Chapter 3223 Unfathomable
After marching for half a day, they finally reached the outskirts of Kushburn.
"D*mn it!"
"What the f*ck?"
Colin and Sevan cursed out loud simultaneously.
They were currently in hiding, observing Kushburn from afar.
Numerous vampire warriors dressed in black tuxedos were stationed outside Kushburn, standing guard under tents with rose rapiers strapped to their waists.
Human prisoners with shackles on their feet could be seen sweeping the ground around them.
The city gate stood wide open, with cars driving along the streets. Some of these vehicles were even equipped with cages that held attractive female humans as prisoners. The city was now clearly under the vampires' control, and they had established their own unique culture within it.
Nathan turned to ask Blossom, "How many vampires are there in Kushburn?"
"I'm not sure, but I believe there should be a few hundred thousand vampires inside," Blossom revealed.
Nathan shared a look with Colin and Sevan.
If Blossom's assumptions were correct, and there were a few hundred thousand vampires living inside the city, it would be difficult for them to infiltrate and capture Max alive.
Colin pulled out a military communication device and checked it. After a quick glance, he whispered to Nathan, "Mr. Cross, Wolfric, and the others have sent a message. There's been a change of plans, and we're going to meet at a different place."
Nathan inquired, "Where are we going to meet?"
"Nightfire Underground City," came Colin's answer.
Nathan's eyebrows furrowed slightly, but he quickly composed himself and said, "It seems they have discovered the situation within Kushburn and realized that capturing Max alive will be a difficult task without raising suspicion. They probably want to discuss a new plan with us. Let's head to Nightfire Underground City to meet with them and ensure Blossom's safety along the way."
Nathan and Colin spoke in hushed tones, so Blossom couldn't hear anything they said.
Her eyes widened as she gazed at Nathan and Colin, curious about the conversation they were having.
Nathan turned over his shoulder to tell her, "Let's head to Nightfire Underground City now."
Blossom had previously assumed that Nathan and his team were planning to enter Kushburn, but she didn't think it was a good idea.
Now that Nathan had decided to
change their plans and head to Nightfire Underground City instead, Blossom was relieved. She quickly responded, “Okay. Nightfire Underground City is quite a distance from here. I can show you the way there."
They journeyed through the night, encountering and defeating numerous wandering and patrolling vampires along the way. Eventually, they reached an unremarkable, dense forest around midnight.
As Blossom entered the forest, she made a series of chirping sounds like a nightingale and growled lowly like a wolf. It appeared that she was either signaling her arrival or conveying a secret code. Soon, many figures emerged within the depths of the forest.
These individuals were equipped with guns, daggers strapped to their waists, and swords slung across their backs. Their scarred faces indicated they were seasoned fighters.
The leader of the group bore two long scars that crisscrossed his face, forming an "X." Though his face was disfigured, he still exuded an intimidating and vicious aura.
He immediately recognized Blossom at first sight. "You're Ms. Helsing from Team Ant. Where are your team members? Who are these people?"
Blossom approached Rulon with a
dejected expression and informed
him, "Rulon, my team encountered a
large group of vampires and engaged in battle. Unfortunately they all died in the fight. These individuals here saved me, and they wish to enter Nightfire Underground City."
Upon hearing this, Rulon appeared both shocked and angry.NôvelDrama.Org content.
He was surprised that no one from Team Ant had survived except for Blossom even though they had many members, and his anger was е
directed toward Blossom for
bringing back strangers whom they
knew nothing about.
If these strangers turned out to be vampires in disguise, it would put everyone in Nightfire Underground City at risk.
It was not uncommon for shelters in vampire-occupied territories to be exposed and subsequently destroyed by the vampires. Rulon's expression was dark as he chided, "Don't you know the rules? Who gave you permission to bring outsiders here?" Blossom immediately panicked and explained, "Rulon, they are not spies. I can guarantee that with my life—"
"Your life and promise are worth nothing to me," Rulon interjected icily.
With that, he marched toward Nathan and the rest.
His subordinates gripped their weapons and quietly surrounded Nathan and his men.
Seeing that, Blossom grew increasingly anxious.
Nevertheless, Nathan remained unfazed as he glanced at Rulon and his subordinates.
Rulon fixed a sharp gaze on Nathan as if he wanted to see through his facade and uncover his true identity.
Nathan's expression remained composed, his gaze as steady as the stars in the sky and as unfathomable as the depths of the sea.
