Chapter 1370
Seeing Sandy unwilling to accept the truth, Adler decided to keep quiet. After all, this was just one of Caelum's little tricks to soothe his daughter. They weren't easily fooled. Kiran must have gotten twisted by the pressure of living under the Pollard family's thumb, giving
birth to Angelo's personality.
As Sandy shared her story, Sophie couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. If Kiran was the main personality, how did that car accident claim Kiran's life? The Pollard family kept things hush-hush about it, leaving everyone wondering what secrets they were hiding.
Jenna chimed in, "No wonder there were no reports about twins, either here or abroad. Looks like the Pollard family really did only have one child."
Sandy added, "I've shared everything I know. I just want to say sorry to you on behalf of my brother, Sophie. I don't think he really wanted to hurt you. He..."
"He just got greedy, aiming to escape to where the treasure is, right?" Adler interjected, finishing Sandy's thought.
Sandy felt a twinge of shame. The Pollard family, with their overseas influence, shouldn't have needed any treasure. They could have closed countless big deals with the effort wasted on treasure hunting. Yet, Kiran went ahead anyway.
Sophie said, "Arguing about his motives now is pointless. Kiran was right; everyone's out for their own interests. Since Kiran has teamed up with Joseph, Sandy, Kiran's now our enemy."
Sandy's face fell as Sophie spoke. "Since he's an enemy, you can't stay at Burke Estate anymore."Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.
Sophie continued calmly, "It's not that we don't see you as a friend, but it's not suitable for you to stay here."
"I can talk to my brother! He listens to me; he won't go against you!" Sandy pleaded, looking desperate.
Sophie shook her head. "It's not that simple. Kiran firing that shot means he's drawn a line. Sandy, I'll arrange for you to fly back overseas. It's best you go back now. With Caelum looking after you, you'll be safe from Devonport's current mess."
"But I..."
"Mr. Adler, could you handle booking her flight, please?" Sophie didn't give Sandy room to argue.
Adler was already on his phone, arranging Sandy's flight. Seeing everyone pull away from her, Sandy felt a pang of sadness. She'd never had a genuine friend growing up. She thought Vanessa cared, but it turned out to be another self-serving relationship.
But
Burke Estate was different. People here weren't together for profit. They might say it was about gain, but deep down, they were true friends. It was only at Burke Estate that Sandy experienced the kind of friendship most people take for granted.
Sandy didn't want to lose these
friends so easily. Back in her room, watching the maid pack her suitcase made her heart ache. No! She
couldn't just walk away like this new
After all the time at Burke Estate, and all the times Sophie had saved her, it was her turn to step up and protect everyone.
