Chapter 46
Chapter 46
Chapter 46.
Nelly’s POV
“That’s Alpha Kex’s beta,” | said, pointing at the man in the picture. Aisha stared at the picture, her eyes wide. “This doesn’t make sense,” she said, her voice tinged with confusion.
| paced back and forth, my thoughts racing. What did it all mean? | couldn’t seem to connect the dots. | was trying to solve a puzzle with missing pieces.
“What if they’re twins?” Aisha suggested.
“You're only adding to my confusion!” | said, sinking into a chair.
Aisha studied my face, her brow furrowed. “How?” she asked.
“If they're twins, it means he’s still my brother,” | replied, my voice hoarse.
“And Emily would be your sister,” she said, her eyes widening.
| buried my face in my hands, my head spinning. How was | supposed to make sense of all this?
| raised my head up and our gaze met. “I remember growing up as an only child,” | said, my voice barely above a whisper. “I never had a sister or brother, and | don’t remember my brother ever having a twin. This is making my head spin! | feel like I’m losing my mind,” | muttered, my voice cracking.
“| know this is confusing, but we'll figure it out,” Aisha said, her voice soothing. “We'll get to the bottom of this.” | took a deep breath, trying to calm myself. | needed to focus.
“What if I’m just hallucinating?” | said, my voice shaky. “What if these memories aren't real? What if there’s no resemblance at all?”
Aisha considered this for a moment, her brow furrowed in thought. “If you’re hallucinating, does that mean | am too?” she asked, a hint of humor in her voice.
“Geez,” | muttered, rolling my eyes. “This is getting ridiculous. Emily can’t be my sister.”
Aisha let out a laugh. “Calm down, you are just over thinking,” she said, a smile playing on her lips. [e)
| collected the picture from Aisha’s hand and studied it, trying to find any similarities. | then turned to my drawings, examining them for any clues. | heard Aisha’s voice break through my thoughts.
“Did you ask Alpha Kex how long he’s known his beta?” she asked.
| shook my head. “No, | didn’t. But based on our conversation about his childhood, it seems like his beta has been around for a long time.”
Aisha nodded thoughtfully. “Maybe that’s a clue,” she mused. “A clue?” | asked, my brow furrowed.
“Yes, a clue,” Aisha said, as if it were obvious. “If Alpha Ex and his beta have known each other for a long time, it means he must know a lot about him. And that could be a clue to figuring out what’s going on.” | thought about what she said, and | had to admit, it made sense.
“So what you’re saying is, | need to ask Alpha Kex some questions?” | said, seeking clarification. Aisha nodded, a smile spreading across her face. “That's precisely what | am trying to say.”
Aisha was about to say something when we heard a knock at the door. “Who’s there?” | called out, my voice a little more aggressive than | intended.
“It's Harry,” came the reply.
Aisha stood up sheepishly and moved toward the door. “I'll just...” she trailed off, her cheeks flushed. She opened the door, and I heard the sound of Harry's voice, but | couldn’t make out what he was saying.
“| will be right back,” Aisha said, smiling, and | couldn’t help but chuckle. | need to ask her what's going on between the both of them.
I lay on the bed, flicking the switch on the lamp on and off, the light flickering in the room. My mind was racing, my thoughts a jumbled mess. The possibility that | was related to Emily felt like a huge weight on my shoulders.
| didn’t know what to do or how to feel. | had so many questions, and | didn’t know where to begin. | closed my eyes, trying to clear my mind, but it was no use. The questions just kept coming.
There was a sudden burst of light as the door to my room flew open. Alpha Kex stood in the doorway, his expression unreadable. He flicked on the light switch, and | blinked as

my eyes adjusted to the sudden brightness.
“What are you doing in the dark?” he asked, his voice stern,
I sat up, trying to collect my thoughts. “Nothing,” | replied, my voice shaky.
He raised an eyebrow, clearly not convinced. “Nelly don’t lie to me?” he asked, his gaze boring into me. | swallowed hard, trying to come up with an answer.
“| was just...bored,” | lied, my voice faltering. “Aisha’s with Harry,” | added, not sure why | felt the need to mention it.
Alpha Kex looked at me for a moment, and then he nodded. He walked over to the bed and sat down, pulling off his slippers. | took a deep breath, trying to calm my racing heart. This was my chance to ask him the questions that had been plaguing my mind.
| turned to face him, and he pulled me close, his lips pressing against mine. | kissed him back, feeling a spark of electricity run through my body. He moaned into the kiss, and | felt my insides melting.
| was completely lost at the moment, my mind blank except for the feeling of his lips. on mine. It was as if nothing else mattered. | pulled back from the kiss, my heart pounding in my chest. | traced circles on his chest, trying to calm my racing thoughts.
“The picture | saw in your room last night,” | began, my voice shaking. “Was that really your beta?”
| looked up at him, my eyes searching his face for any hint of emotion. He nodded, his eyes meeting mine.
“Yes,” he said, his voice low.
He reached up and patted my hair, his touch gentle and reassuring. But | still had so many questions.
“How long have you known him?” | asked, my voice barely above a whisper.
“Since | was a child,” he said, leaning in closer and kissing my neck. | let out a moan, my body trembling with desire. “Kex,” | whispered, my voice breathless. But he pulled away, his eyes filled with lust, and then he resumed torturing my neck. “Where do his parents live?” | asked, trying to sound nonchalant.
Alpha Kex gave me a hard glare. “That's none of your business,” he said, his tone cold.

He got up and put on his slippers, his back to me.
“Are we fighting?” | asked, standing up.
“| just want to spend time with you, and you're pestering me with questions,” he said, his voice tinged with anger. “I'm sorry.” | said, my voice soft.
| leaned in and kissed him. my lips lingering on his. He didn’t respond at first, his body tense. But then he relaxed, his arms reaching up to hold me. | felt a wave of relief wash
over me. | grasped the front of his shirt, pulling him towards the bed. Our lips met, and | felt the familiar rush of desire.
“| can’t wait to devour you,” he whispered, pulling away for a moment. | smiled, a thrill running through my body. “Then devour me.” | replied, the words barely leaving my lips before he was kissing me again.
