Chapter 29

Chapter 29 Chapter 29. Nelly’s POV.

Alpha Kex’s eyes were ablaze as he stalked toward me. My heart was racing, my limbs frozen with fear. | stumbled backward until my back hit the wall. | was trapped, and | knew there was nowhere to run.

Alpha Kex’s body was mere inches from mine, his breath hot on my face. | felt my hands trembling as he reached out, his sharp claws digging into my arms. | felt the warm trickle of blood, and | tried to steady my breathing. | had to find a way out of this.

“Alpha........ Kex, you are hurting me,” | stammered, my words trembling with fear. Alpha Kex’s grip on me loosened, but | still couldn’t catch my breath. “All of you, leave the room now,” he commanded. Aisha scurried out, and Emily lingered by the door, her eyes wide with terror.Còntens bel0ngs to Nô(v)elDr/a/ma.Org

“Please, go,” he said to her, his voice softer now, but still firm. Emily turned and hurried out of the room, leaving me alone with Alpha Kex.

“Why did you spike the food?” he roared, his voice booming in the small room. | stared at him, my mouth agape. “|-I didn’t,” | stuttered, my voice barely a whisper.

He took a step toward me, his eyes flashing with anger. “You know how much | hate lies,” he said, his voice low and menacing. “Tell me the truth, now.” | flinched, my body trembling.

“Speak!” he roared, his voice echoing off the walls.

“Why would you think | would spike your food and still lie to you?” | stammered, my voice shaking. “Because,” he said, his voice low and dangerous, “you didn’t know that Emily saw you.”

My throat was dry, and | swallowed hard. “Emily?” | managed to say, my voice barely audible. “Yes, Emily,” he thundered, his eyes dark and furious.

| stood there, my mind whirling, trying to make sense of it all. Why would Emily lie to Alpha Kex? And how could | possibly explain my innocence when he was so clearly convinced of my guilt?

| felt a throbbing pain in my head, my thoughts racing in circles. | knew | had to think of something, anything, to make him believe me. But the harder | tried, the more my mind seemed to go blank.

“Do you know the consequences of your actions?” he asked, his voice filled with menace. | swallowed hard, my throat dry and parched.

“I'm innocent, Alpha,” | said, my voice quavering.

| held his gaze, willing him to believe me. He studied me for what felt like an eternity, his expression unreadable. “You are saying that Emily is lying?” he asked, his tone flat and unemotional.

| took a deep breath, my heart pounding in my chest. “Yes,” | said, my voice barely a whisper.

His grip on me loosened, and he let out a deep sigh, his hand moving to his head as he ran his fingers through his hair. | watched him pace around the room, his jaw clenched, his brow furrowed.

His eyes moved everywhere but to my face, as if he couldn't bear to look at me. | stood there, frozen in place, my body tense and alert, waiting for whatever came next. | could feel my pulse racing, my breathing shallow and rapid. | was scared, but | couldn't move.

Without another word, Alpha Kex turned and left the room, leaving me alone, my heart pounding and my mind a jumble of thoughts.

| began to pace back and forth, my steps hurried and frantic. What was going on in Alpha Kex’s mind? What was | supposed to do now? Was | safe, or in danger?

| felt my head spinning, and my breathing grew even more shallow and quick. | couldn’t catch my breath. Panic was setting in. | had to do something, but | had no idea what.

“Oh Goddess,” | heard a voice behind me.

| turned to see Aisha standing there, her mouth agape, her eyes wide. | followed her gaze, my heart sinking as | realized what she was looking at.

She was staring at my bleeding arms. | tried to give her a reassuring smile, but it never reached my eyes.

“Don't tell me Alpha Kex did this to you,” she said, her voice wavering. | couldn’t answer her. | was unable to bring myself to admit that he had.

She let out a hiss, her eyes narrowing as she strode to the dressing table, pulled open the drawer, and retrieved the first aid box. | let her drag me to the bed, feeling my

energy draining from me.

“How can he be this wicked?” she asked, and | felt the need to defend him, despite everything.

“It's not his fault,” | said, but Aisha rolled her eyes.

“How can you say that? He hurt you, Alice!” she exclaimed, her voice angry. “How can you still defend him?” “You won't understand,” | said, my voice raspy. Aisha scoffed.

“Well, enlighten me then,” she said, her tone dripping with sarcasm. | took a deep breath and cleared my throat.

“The reason | say it’s not his fault is because he injured me mistakenly,” | explained, my words slow and measured. “And, moreover, Emily lied to him.”

Aisha stared at me, a mix of emotions playing across her features. | could see her trying to process everything | had said. Finally, she sighed.

“That bitch again,” Aisha said, her eyes narrowing as she turned to face me.

| nodded, the anger and hurt still fresh in my mind. “She had lied to him,” | said, my voice hoarse. “She told Alpha Kex that | had spiked his food, so now he’s mad at me.”

Aisha clenched her fists, her breathing heavy. “If it weren’t for the consequences, would walk to her room and beat the hell out of her,” she said, her words tinged with

venom.

| smiled weakly, trying to ease the tension. “Please, control your temper.”

“We need to deal with her,” Aisha said, her tone hard and determined.

| sighed, my exhaustion catching up with me. “Let it slide,” | said, my voice heavy with fatigue.

Aisha stood up, facing me, her expression fierce. “Why should we let it slide?” she asked. “If she can play the game, then we need to tell her two can play the game.”

| shook my head. “It’s too risky, Aisha,” | said. “We have never done anything like this before.”

“We are not hurting anyone, Nelly,” she said, her voice soft and persuasive. “It’s just giving her a taste of her medicine. It’s not too much, is it?”

| shook my head, unsure. “No, Aisha,” | protested weakly. 10:41 Thu, 22 Feb GG. Chapter 29

She knelt down beside me, her eyes pleading. “Please,” she said, her voice barely above a whisper as she gave me her puppy eyes, she knew that’s my weakness.

| sighed. “Okay,” | said, giving in. She hugged me tightly, relief evident in her voice as she spoke, “Thank you.”

She let go of me, a faint blush on her cheeks. “So it’s time to hatch our first plan?” she asked, a mischievous glint in her eyes. | stared at her, surprised. “Now?” | asked.

She nodded, her expression serious. “No time to waste.”
