CHAPTER 30
The entire group was gathered by the back mountain in 10 minutes.
The Back Mountain was a relatively dangerous area in Silver Blade Pack. It shared boarders with the rogues at the north end and inhabited many dangerous species in the woods.
Only the strongest werewolves dared to hunt in this area.
Aurora finished the prep work and was standing at the start-up point with Kaelan and Rivena.
“G**a Aurora, I promise I won’t let you down,” Kaelan said excitedly while rolling his wrists. “If there is any danger, just hide behind my back.”
Rivena giggled, “Oh please. Your Ga**a is stronger than the two of us combined. You probably want to hide behind her back when something happens.”
“I won’t behave like a coward,” Kaelan said solemnly. “They will have to step over my dead body before they get to
G**a Aurora.”
“You are such a nerd Kaelan…Oh *t.”
Rivena’s eyes traveled behind Aurora’s shoulder, and she snorted, “Here comes the clown.”
The 3 of them turned around and found Chloe walking across field toward them, carrying a basket in her hand.
Among all these soldiers dressed in uniform or sportswear, Chloe stood out with her low-cup top, short skirt, and skinny high-heels.
“Hey, I heard that you are having a competition today. So I prepare some snacks for you!” Chloe opened her basket with a big smile. “Would anyone like to have a try?”
“Seems nice!”
Jeff and Steven came to her side.
But when they saw what was inside, they became hesitated.
“Please take as much as you like. I have made quite a few,” Chloe encouraged.
She gave a sheepish look at Damien and added with a shy smile, “Not to flatter myself, but I am quite an expert in the kitchen. And I am trying to get better at it because it is the duty of the future Luna to cook for her husband-”
“Are you seriously giving us these?” Rivena cut her off sharply after taking a peek into the basket.
Chloe seemed offended, “If you don’t like it, I am not forcing you to eat my food. There are plenty of others who would appreciate my good will…”
Rivena shrugged, “Sure. But I am just saying, you made chocolate m**ns, French fries, panzerotti…all of these contains lots of fats and sugar. Warriors like us need to keep a low body fat.
Nobody here will eat your **t.”
Chloe’s face quickly turned red.
“I-I don’t know about this…”
“But don’t you have a nutrition class when you were in school?” Rivena raised a brow. “You s**d your diving lesson, and you missed nutrition as well? How on earth did you get your graduate certificate?”
A surge of panic rose of Chloe’s chest.
She didn’t get her graduate certificate.
She spent all of her teenage life messing around with her high school boyfriend and chasing after Damien. Studying was a waste of her time.
Upon graduation, she forced Aurora to scrape the name “Aurora” off the certificate and put the name “Chloe” on it instead.
Because of it, Aurora was laughed at people for being “the Luna without a graduate certificate.”
But Damien knew none of these.
She couldn’t let Damien find out about it!
“I-I forgot about what I learnt in the nutrition class…it was so long ago…” Chloe covered her basket and put on a forced smile. “Let me run back and get you something else.”
“There is no need.”
Aurora reached into her backpack and took out a box of protein bars.
“The competition is about to begin. If any one of you is hungry, take my snack instead,” said Aurora.
Everybody cheered. They quickly abandoned Chloe and swarmed in for a protein bar.
Chloe gripped onto her basket, mortified.
She looked over to Damien and found him looking at Aurora as well, with a small smile on his lips.

…That f**g w** Aurora stole her thunder AGAIN!
To have these snacks ready before the competition began, she had 20 maids working in the kitchen
simultaneously. She even smashed a maid’s hand with a baking tray because she thought that maid was slacking
off.
Then she had to carry this d** heavy basket all the way across the dusty training field in these torturing high
hells-
She made ALL of those efforts!
Yet still, her snacks lost to Aurora’s cheap, pathetic protein bars!!!
She didn’t understand-Aurora was on her turf now, she should be able to defeat Aurora within a heartbeat, just like what she did 6 months ago!
But why was everything going against her will right now?!
Aurora didn’t notice Chloe’s angry glare.
She just finished up her own protein bar and was ready to begin the competition.
“Attention, all teams!”
Jasper raised a hand in the air, calling for all participant’s attention.
“The competition is about to begin. Are you ready-GO!”
With some loud, rustling noises, all 5 teams-15 people-lunged into the forest at full speed.
Aurora had discussed her tactic with Kaelan and Rivena..
The hunting was not about speed, but about skills and patience.
So they didn’t plan on wasting their time and energy at the beginning of the competition. They also didn’t want to go to those hot hunting spots and fought over the preys with other teams.
What they would do, was to take a detour and go deep into the forest. That part of the place had less people and more opportunities.
The 3 of them ventured into the dense woods quiet and steady, like three experienced predators. Compared to Ever Moon Pack’s ever-green woods, the forest in Silver Blade Pack seemed dreary.
The color of the trees was muted shades of green and brown, which gave the forest an eerie and foreboding
atmosphere.
Each step they took made a crunching sound on the bed of fallen twigs.

The branches of the trees twisted and turned, forming eerie shapes like gnarled, ancient arms reaching out to grab
them.
“Christ.” Rivena groaned, “This place seemed off. Don’t people get depression living in a place like this?”
Aurora pushed a branch out of her face, “Not if you are used to it.”
She was thrown into this forest many times by Hellen and Paul when she was little.
It was the cruelest kind of punishment for a kid.
She would cry for hours and hours, begging for help in tears.
But nobody came to her rescue.
Hellen probably wanted her to die underneath a bear’s claw. But magically, she managed to crawl back home alive every single time.
Gradually, this forest stopped being so dreadful to her.
“Hey. I have been meaning to ask you-
Aurora turned to Rivena and asked in a low voice, “What happened between you and Lance the other day? Were you two making out in his room?”
Rivena’s face quickly turned red, “Oh that-well, yeah…we were.”Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.
“Really?! Why didn’t you tell me then? How long have you been dating?”
“…We are not dating…” Rivena laughed bitterly. “We just…h***k up. Lance doesn’t want anything serious. He made that very clear.”
“…What?” Aurora rounded her eyes in shock and anger.
What the hell?
How the f**k did Lance become such a f**y!
Aurora wanted to keep asking but she was interrupted by Kaelan, who just returned from the front carrying a deer on his shoulder:
“G**a Aurora, look what I got! A dear!”

“Good for you,” Aurora gave him a smile.

“Let’s talk about it later.” Rivena whispered urgently into Aurora’s ears. “We should focus on the race for now.”
They kept traveling north, deep into the forest.
Half an hour later, the 3 of them found themselves at an intersection.
According to the map, if they took the left, they would soon arrive at a stream, which was the hydration spot for many animals like rabbit, dears and horses.
If they encountered those wild animals, it would seal their position as the winner..
“Let’s go!” Kaelan urged them excitedly, “I bet the other teams were all way behind us.”
He found Aurora studying the map with a frown.
“What is the matter G**a Aurora?”
“Nothing…Let’s go.” Aurora put the map back in her backpack.
There was a scraping mark on the map as though somebody had tried to change the details…
But she was probably being paranoid.
