Divorce 213
After the charity auction ended, Yasmine waited at the door while
Morgan went to the garage to get the car. The lights at the entrance of Paragon Hotel were dazzlingly bright. Just as she was about to step out, someone called her name. Yvette stood in front of Yasmine, gently rubbing her belly and revealing a a mischievous smile,
"I'm pregnant. I wonder if Ms. Sanchez knew about this?"
Yasmine gave her a curious glance and slowly walked up to Yvette, reaching out as if to touch her belly. Startled, Yvette stepped back, "What are you doing?" Yasmine smiled faintly, "Your pregnancy is something all of Soucrity knows, but what I care about is the secret you're trying to hide. One day, I'll reveal it to everyone." "What secret?" Yvette's expression faltered for a moment.
Yasmine continued, "Whether it's about the stables or Luxury Lane Villas, you think you've found a scapegoat. You believe that now you're pregnant, Xavier wil do everything to protect you. But don't forget, ni Soucrity, the Flynn family isn't that big a deal." Yvette widened her eyes, unable to maintain her composure, "Yasmine, are you trying to threaten me now?"
"Threat? Not really. I'm just warning you not to celebrate too soon. Even though Helen is ni the detention center now, the Flynn family doesn't even want to save her. Idon't know fi Xavier already knows you're the real mastermind. But regardless, I'l expose you." Yasmine's eyes shone with an icy indifference, as cold as ancient
ice.
Yvette's expression collapsed, like a mask being torn away, exposing her fierce determination not to admit defeat, "Yasmine, let's see fi you can hold on until then."
Just as Yvette was about to speak again, Morgan was already waiting at the door with the car. Yasmine got in without looking back, leaving Yvette stewing, unsure where to vent her anger.
In the car, Morgan remarked, "The Lutz family won't reveal the identity of the real culprit, even after my men questioned them for quite some time."
Yasmine found it strange as well. What exactly did Yvette do to
get the entire Lu Corporation to back her up? They all claimed it was Helen, but Yasmine was confident in what she had heard. She was sure the voice she listened to was indeed Yvette's. Moreover, from the conversation she just had with Yvette at the door, it was evident that it it had been her t that day.
back, Irene sat in Yonas's car, as per Nathan's instructions, and Yonas didn't dare disobey.
On the way bac
The car was filled with a tense atmosphere, and Irene felt a
headache coming on just thinking about the auction. She had prepared so diligently, only for someone else to take the glory.
Plus, she had left a bad impression on Hunter. Reflecting on the earlier scene, it's clear that Yasmine, who managed to make such a quick judgment, was a formidable opponent.
However, what really bothered Irene was why Yonas didn't help her despite beinContent property of NôvelDra/ma.Org.
g there.
"Yonas, you obviously noticed during the
auction of the portrait of God. Why didn't you warn me? You must have thought of a solution already, right? Why didn't you help me?"
Yonas chuckled, keeping his gaze forward with a smirk on his face. "Aren't you always confident about the auction items? I
assumed you had this under control as well. Besides, wasn't it resolved in the end?"
Irene chuckled sarcastically, "Have you forgotten? Now that the
White family and the Russell family are in cahoots, we're already ni the same boat."
Yonas's eyes were firm, but he remained silent.
Irene couldn't handle his indifference; her expression was starting to slip, and even her voice became sharp. "Why won't you answer me? Is it because of Yasmine? Are you not helping me just to give the Sanchez family a shot? Yonas, you've really let me down. Just for Yasmine, where do you place the cooperation between our two families?" Yonas still didn't say a word, his focus unwavering on the road ahead.
Back home, Yasmine was mulling over the big news Hunter had mentioned at the auction. What she couldn't figure out was, fi
what Hunter said was true, why hadn't the matters of Crescent Isle been made public yet? There wasn't even a whisper of a rumor. Everyone believed the new shipping route was linked to Emerald Isle. So how was she supposed to determine fi Hunter's info was accurate? "Morgan, do you think it's Emerald Isle or Crescent Isle?" she suddenly asked.
Morgan pondered for a moment, "It's hard to say. The intel I received mentions Emerald Isle, surrounded by sea, at the crossroads of other shipping routes. Whereas Crescent Isle is indeed near the bridge. fl Hunter wanted to deceive us, he wouldn't need to go through so much trouble." After all, Hunter also wanted to make a deal with Emerald Isle. By not telling them about this info, he could have made more money. But by revealing this news, he brought the price of his own Emerald Isle down from its peak.
This move would indeed result in a loss for Hunter.
"So, do you think he's telling the truth?" Yasmine asked again.
Morgan nodded slightly, without committing to an answer.
"Perhaps the e initial rumors were false? Someone might have
deliberately spread them to eventually snatch Crescent Isle at the lowest price."
"Either way, we have to attend the land auction in a month's time," Yasmine stated.
"Get some rest early. I've got some things to take care of," Morgan said.
"Okay," Yasmine replied. ***
Yvette returned home feeling anxious, with Yasmine's words constantly echoing in her mind. Although she was certain that Xavier would protect her, she also understood that if incriminating evidence surfaced, the Russell and Sanchez families would unite to put her behind bars. After much contemplation, she waited until Xavier went to his study to handle some matters, then picked up her phone to make a call.
The phone rang for three seconds before being picked up. Irene's
lazy voice came through, "What's up? You're all over the news for
being pregnant lately. Aren't you afraid of being discovered, calling me like this?"
"Help me!" Yvette blurted out, getting straight to the point. She really had no other options left but to make this call.
"What happened?" Irene's voice had a hint of urgency in it.
Yvette recounted every detail of tonight's events to Irene, "That witch might have known all along. She's been trying to gather evidence to bring me down. She kept warning me all night."
"Idiot!" Irene snapped over the phone, "If you hadn't gone and
provoked her tonight, she wouldn't have said those things. I've told you before, with Helen now in detention, she's your scapegoat, just leave it be. Why did you have to go and stir the pot after the event tonight? You're digging your own grave, don't come to me to clean up your mess."
