Chapter 22
Chapter 22
***Ava's Pov***
'No. ' that wasn't the answer I was expecting.
I wasn't okay with the two being sexual, I mean they were brothers for goddess sake, even though they
weren't related. They still shared the same surname.
'There has never been any sort of penetration. We only kiss, frot and of course give each other hand
jobs.' Ray explained.
'Plus Ava you saw the adoption certificates yourself, we can't be related. ' Bryson tried to convince me.
'You don't know that, maybe you are brothers, only that Renata isn't your birth mother. ' I tried
reasoning with them.
'Oh come, now that the truth is finally out, you can',t deny the fact that we look nothing alike. Maybe the
height, but that all.' Ray spoke.
'How about we give your parents a call and ask them to clear some things for us? ' I suggested.
'I've been wanting to call them since you broke the news to us earlier, it's only that I feel betrayed and
lied to. ' Bryson revealed.
'Me too, I have a lot of questions about all this came to be. I want to know it all but just like Bryson I
don't know where or how to start. ' Ray paused, looking at me with some kind of expectation.
'I know what you want me to do...'
'Please Ava do it for us, please. ' Bryson begged.
'I don't even want to question how you just let the word please slip past your lips Bry. However if you
had waited for me to finish my statement, you'd have know that I'm willing to call them for you guys. '
'So what are we waiting for? You have your phone on you? ' Ray asked.
I answered by pulling it out of my pocket. I searched for their dads contact before pressing call. Both
men, sat on either side, waiting anxiously for their father to pick up. None of them questioned why I had
called him instead of their mother.
'Hello.' Reynard pick up.
'Hey Mr. Romans. ' I replied back.
'I thought I told you to call me dad, it's only fair since you're calling my wife mum. '
'I'm sorry...dad. '
'Now that's more like it. Is there anything in particular you needed Ava? '
'Actually, there is. ' Bryson responded.
'Why I'm I on loudspeaker boys? '
'Because you have a lot of answering to do. ' Ray responded.
'That is no way to talk to your father boys.' Renata joined the phone conversation.
'Why is she even talking? Weren't you the one who just asked why you're on loud speaker? ' Bry
questioned exasperated.
'Oh come on, there are no secrets between a husband and a wife. ' Reynard answered.
'Oh but there is between parents and their kids? ' Ray asked, clearly getting annoyed.
'What's that supposed to mean? ' Renata fired back, sounding mad with a bit of nervousness betraying
her.
'Quit it mother. ' Bry spoke, pronouncing All content © N/.ôvel/Dr/ama.Org.
the word mother with such venom and disgust.
'What is wrong with you? ' She asked.
'Hey Ren, you know what they're talking about. It's time. ' Reynard urged her from the other side,
making her sigh in the process.
'I'm sorry. ' She spoke after some silence.
'I send Ava, to put the documents safely for me deliberately. '
'What! ' I exclaimed.
'I'm sorry Ava, I knew that my boys deserved to know the truth. But I didn't have the courage to face
them while breaking the news to them. '
'Neither did I. ' Reynard added.
'So my husband and I came up with that plan. We knew Ava would straight up see them, we also knew
she would end up telling you. '
'What we didn't expect was for her to tell you that soon. ' Reynard chimed in.
A slap sounded from the other side, followed by a string of curses and some manly whining.
'Ouch what was that for? ' Reynard whined.
'Stop interrupting me. ' His wife answered back.
'Sorry children, your father can be a handful sometimes. ' Renata joked.
'Anyway back to the matter at hand. I was supposed to have told you, the moment Bryson turned 18,
but I wasn't around and Reynard refused to do it alone.
So when I returned, we devised a plan and here we are now. I know you have a lot of questions but
since this conversation is not suitable over the phone. I'll only answer two, then we can clear some
things up when we come back. ' Renata suggested.
'No. ' Both men answered at the same time.
'We do this now, or we never do it again. ' Ray spoke with finality.
'We deserve the truth, what you're asking is impossible. ' Bry spoke.
'Okay, Reynard agreed. '
'I had known since my teenage years that I couldn't get pregnant, I can't go into the details though. The
report from the doctor had devastated me, I didn't feel like living anymore.
We had begun dating with your father and he had constantly told me how he loved kids. I knew then
and there that I wouldn't lead him on with my condition. So I broke up with him but boy he was even
more stubborn than a mule.
He followed me everywhere demanding for a good reason why I wanted the break up. I finally came
clean by giving him the stamped doctors report.
He assured me that all that mattered was the love he had for me. ' Renata sniffed, her voice breaking.
'It took a lot of convincing because I didn't understand why he would stick by me. Even when we had
been dating for a few months. He was adamant that he loved me and that he wasn't ever letting me go.
So when we finally settled down, we decided to adopt one kid. However when we went to Nairobi
Springs Of Hope Children's home, things changed.
Ray was barely two years and Bryson only a month old. We had already fallen in love with Ray and
knew then right and there he's the one we wanted to adopt.
However, while we were passing by the hallways towards the office, one of the staff there passed by
us, pushing a baby stroller with Bryson in it.
As weird as it sounds, I couldn't take my eyes away from him. In a blink of an eye, we had decided to
take the both of you. Fortunately the application went through in weeks, and we finally brought you
home.
We tried following up on who your parents might have been. ' Renata paused, swallowing saliva loudly.
'Did you get any information? ' Ray asked.
'We did. ' It was Renard who answered.
'They both were single teenage mothers who coincidentally were best friends. Your mother and I
fortunately traced their where abouts easily. We wanted to be able to give you some closure when the
time right came. ' Reynard narrated.
'Seems we did the right thing honey. ' Renata praised her husband.
'They were both from poor families, living in the same neighbourhood. Actually, they lived around Ava's
place. '
'Do they still live there? ' Ray asked.
'No, but both their parents still do. ' Renata answered.
'Do you want to see them? ' Renata whisper questioned, suddenly realising that she could lose her
boys.
'No mum, I don't want to see that woman whenever she might be. She dumped me in an orphanage,
why would I want anything to do with her when she clearly didn't want the same with me? ' Bryson
expressed.
'Me too, I have nothing to say to her. I just wanted to know if you ever met them. ' Ray agreed.
'But boys.. ' Bryson cut her off.
'Don't even start mum. We don't want to see them and it's final. '
'Plus we can hear how heartbreaking the thought of us re uniting with them is stressing you out. ' Ray
added.
'You brought us up as your own kids. Hell, we never even suspected a thing. We are not ungrateful
bastards, we are very thankful for that. ' Bryson assured them.
'Who knows what would've become of us if you hadn't adopted us? So stop worrying plus how else
would we have met Ava, if not for that decision you made years back.? ' Ray questioned, smiling at me
in the process.
'We're so happy to hear that. We love you so much, even you Ava. We love you so so much. We.. '
'I swear mum if you repeat that again we are going to hung up. ' Bryson threatened lightly.
'Okay, boys. ' Renata spoke.
'Mum? '
'Yes. ' Renata answered.
'Dad? '
'What do you want now? ' Reynard knew that the boys wanted some favour.
'We want to change our surnames, atleast one of us. '
'But why? you just said you don't want to...'
'Relax mum, it's for a valid reason. One that you might not agree with. ' Bryson spoke.
'Oh we know the reason alright. ' Reynard teased.
'What are you even talking about?' Ray questioned.
'We know why you want to abandon your surnames. ' Renata added.
'Can you just get to the point? Damn it!' Bryson swore.
'Language young man. ' Renata scolded her son.
'You haven't been doing a good job hiding your feelings from us. '
'What your father is trying to say is that.' Renata stopped for a few seconds before continuing.
'We know that you want to fuck the hell out of each other. '
You could hear a tear drop fall.
