Chapter 32
"Wait, what?" Vincent said. "She is my mate and future Luna."
"She hasn't decided. As a princess, she will be able to make that decision. She should see all her paths." King Chase said. "She will not be going." Vincent said, standing up.
"Your majesty. Vincent, please sit down." I begged. "Tonight, we have a ball that the pack has put a lot of work into. I would hate to miss it because of a misunderstanding. There are also the discussions over Katie and Eric that need to happen." "That boy cannot be my baby's mate." King Chase said, sitting back down.
"It is her decision as it is mine." I said to the king, who looked at me in anger. "Let me make you a deal. I will join you at the royal pack, I will bring Katie and Eric." I could feel Vincent's anger growing.
Ignoring his growl, I continued. "My party will be allowed to stay or return home whenever they wish." I put my hand up to stop both the king and Vincent from commenting. "We will leave next week to join you, or you can stay the full week. This will give me enough time to explain things to Katie. The shock of Eric having a mate would be hard. Let alone the other news we must tell her. Please give me tonight to enjoy the ball. We can discuss more tomorrow if you all agree."
The queen looked at her husband. He nodded. "We agree."
"I guess I don't have a choice," Vincent said.
I reached over and gave him a kiss. "You do not, but I would be happy if you would try to understand."
"I will try." Vincent said. "I don't have to like it."
I smiled at him. "Your Majesties, I want you to get to know Eric. He is loyal and strong. I believe he will be a good mate."
"That is yet to be seen," The King said as they both rose.
"We should begin preparing for the ball." The queen said. "I guess there will be no need to bring our children here. They can formally meet you at the ball. You will reserve a spot to dance with Cole."
"Of course, I will." I stood and bowed to them as they left. Smacking Vincent in the side as he growled again.
Once the door had clicked closed. I spun towards Vincent, he had stood and started to pick me up and set me on his desk. With his arms pinning my hips, he lowered his head to my ear. "I do not like the words coming out of your mouth, but damn do you look beautiful when taking the lead."
"Vincent!" I screamed and he started to s**k on my neck. "We need to talk about what just happened."
"We will. After." With this statement, he moved his hand up my dress and moved my underwear to the side, parting my lips. His kisses became rougher, and he found the perfect spot to torment me. Just as I thought I would come, he pulled back and removed my underwear.
He cleared his desk and flipped me over, so my front laid down. He pulled up the dress, slapped my backside and entered. Grabbing my hip with one hand to guide my motion and enticing my pleasure with the other hand. We both came together.
With memories like this one, my trip to the royal pack would be short. If that was his plan, he succeeded. Once we finished, we went back to our room to freshen up. I had to meet up with Katie to prepare dinner and the ball. Katie would be at dinner sitting with us and Mrs. Brown said she would put her to bed. This is now changed to Eric and Cora if everything continues to go as planned.
Katie sat in the middle of her bed, eyes red from tears. I went to sit next to her. "Katie. Why all the tears?"
"I wanted Eric to be my mate. I know I am like you, and I could choose. He just had to wait." Katie was almost in tears again.
"Katie, you know that is not always how the goddess works. Eric will get old while he waits. You may find another who is more suited to your age. Who will be able to run with you and keep up? Eric might be too old for that." I used the old he is too old for you trick hoping it would work.
"Mom, if you are a princess, then I would be too. Even if I am not your real daughter. I will get to choose too. I know it." Katie was right. The book did not have her name, but as she had some magic as well, she might end up in the book as a princess. "I just love Eric so much."
"I love Eric too. Like a brother though. There isn't a stronger bond than family, even if it is made and not blood." I said to Katie.
"Like you and me. You chose to be my mom after my parents died." Katie said, looking into me. I know she could feel my secret.
"There is something I found out. We are blood. Well, half-blood." I looked at Katie's confused face. "Remember when Dr. Rosenbaum took your blood?" Kaite nodded.
"Well, you and I share similar blood. Similar in the father section." I said.
"The man who tried to kill everyone?" She looked at me shocked.
"Yes, he wants me and maybe you to help him do some bad things. He wants our powers to help him hurt many people."
"Why did you tell her that?" Sasha yelled in my head.
"She would know I was holding back? Why not?" I thought.
"Sasha doesn't think I am strong enough to know," Katie said. "I am stronger than you think."
"I know you are. Sasha hasn't known you as long as I have." I gave her a hug. "Now we have 30 minutes to go grab food before our beauty team gets here and makes us into princesses."
She giggled and grabbed my hand. "Can I still sit by Eric, and will he dance with me?"Content rights by NôvelDr//ama.Org.
"I think he will, or it will be off with his head." I laughed back.
"Like in Alice in wonderland," Katie said. "We shall start reading that tonight."
"Sounds good. I think a real princess will be there as well to help," I said.
"Mom or should I say, sister, you are a real princess." Kaite.
"I am a lot of things and you can call me whatever you want." I said.
"What about princess mom?" She laughed and ran right into the back of Prince Cole. Who had also snuck down to the kitchens. "Opps."
Prince Cole turned around, his dark brown hair moving as he did. Prince Cole was tall with light brown skin and darker brown hair. He too had green eyes like his family. He was muscular and handsome. He didn't have any food, so I assume he was here to impress the Omegas.
He at first looked angry about the intrusion but recovered nicely when he saw it was Katie and I.
"Ah, the most beautiful girl in the pack and her mother." He bowed. He was a charmer and Katie grinned. "Have you come for food? These Omegas are beautiful and perfect cooks. I have been tasting their delicacies since we arrived."
"I bet you have." I said one Omega, in blushed and rushed out of the kitchen. Prince Cole just smirked.
"What is an 18-year-old mateless wolf to do? So many pretty wolves. I do not know who to dance with and I know none," he said.
"You know me and my mom, now you can dance with us. If I am allowed to stay for a dance or two." Kaite's eyes shined. So easily she forgot Eric.
"It would be my honor if you were to accept." He said this with another bow. He picked up a muffin from the table and offered it to Katie as a gift. She smiled and curtsied, almost falling over.
"Until tonight, my Prince," she said.
"Until tonight, fair maiden." He played right into her fantasy. He winked at me when we left.
I shook my head. "Katie, grab what you want. We need to get back. The team will be here in 10 minutes with our dresses and make-up. We will talk about dancing when we get upstairs."
She squealed again and ran. Before you knew it, the night for dinner was among us. Katie had talked me into three dances. Once with Vincent, one with Eric, and one with Cole. I think Cole is going to be trouble.
Katie was wearing a lovely green dress that fit perfectly with her red curls that were perfectly pined at the top of her head, making her look older than she was.
My gold dress went perfectly with the gold and purple/blue sapphire set that was delivered to me from Vincent. He said they reminded him of my eyes. My hair was up as well with braids and curls. This showed off my low plunges on both sides of the dress. We were ready. Vincent joined us in the hall. I gave him a quick kiss before taking his arm.
"Just think this could be our life. The three of us," Vincent said. I smiled and so wanted that life. Sasha went nuts by my softening. I still had my reservations, but they were few.
Dinner went well with Katie positioned between the Prince and Eric. She was smitten. She didn't even notice that Princess Cora's hand never left Eric's. Everything was going smoothly. The speeches from Vincent and the Royals both recognized the situation as one they are looking forward to a long and healthy relationship, no matter what the outcome.
Now the dance. I was going to dance with Vincent first, but Katie had that honor as we had discussed, so my first dance was with Prince Cole. He was very flirtatious, and I couldn't help but see his parents' smile at his efforts. He was an amazing dancer and did not let off. I once stepped on his foot when his hand moved a bit too low.
Next, I danced with Vincent. His warmth made me swoon. "I was going to rip his hand off," Vincent said. "I think you may have broken a toe though no one would know it." I smiled at him and looked over. He was dancing with his sister as Eric was dancing with Katie. Katie was frustrated that Eric kept looking over at Cora.
"Good thing wolves heal fast." Which earned me a jovial laugh. I tugged at his arm "Decorum sir, you are at a ball dancing with a princess."
"Ah yes, an Omega, Princess. Hopeful Luna." He kissed my lips. I think this was a show of ownership, but at that moment I did not care. I wanted one night to enjoy myself and I would get it. I danced with many others but as all the guests left, Vincent and I shared the last dance as the only couple.
"I know you are not happy I will leave next week." I said, looking into his eyes.
"It will be hard without you. Without a Luna, the Alpha may grow weak. I will also miss you every second." He pulled me closer.
"I know." I must make the right decision. "When I am away you should look to find a perfect Luna. Not one with all the problems I came up with. You owe that to the pack."
"Filli, my little princess, you are the perfect Luna. You just don't believe it yet." He kissed my forehead. "I will let you go to find your place. I already know it is by my side. I love you."
"I love you too. I will learn from them and return stronger and more knowledgeable about myself. I don't know how long that will take, but if it is meant to be, I will come back." I leaned into his chest.
"You will return." He said with hope and forced acuity clinging to each word.
