She froze in surprise, then said, “It’s different.”
One was the man she loved and the other was her best friend. They were two completely different kinds of feelings!
“But…” She thought for a moment and said, “Both of you are people that I would protect with my life! So you’re both important to me.”
His eyes flickered slightly. He should be content. She said she’s willing to protect him with her life!
But why couldn’t it be just him?

“Just because she helped you in the past?” he asked.

Jackson grabbed her hand and put it to his lips. He gently rubbed his lips against her palm, making her blush.
“I guess I have no choice,” he murmured softly, his eyes drooping.
If the car accident hadn’t happened, perhaps Lisa wouldn’t be so important to her. But like she said, without Lisa, she wouldn’t be here right now,
Therefore, he should actually be grateful to Lisa. At least, during the darkest time in Serenity’s life, Lisa was there to help her.

When Terry heard that, he gave Lisa a choice, “Either you tell me the whole story or I’ll investigate myself. Your choice.”
Lisa’s smile faltered. She had no choice but to tell him.
If he were to investigate, he might dig up even more stuff about her than the incident.
