Chapter 1291 Mopping Up The Treasure Houses
Chapter 1291 Mopping Up The Treasure Houses
Without an obstacle in sight, Darren and Murphy waltzed into the castle with ease.
However, they still hid their auras, afraid of being discovered by the Gambling King's god's sense.
"What is this place?"
Darren asked when a guard led them before a large iron gate.
"Sir, this is Maxwell's treasure house."
"Treasure house? Are you saying lots of precious treasures lie within it? How on earth would we be
able to get in there?" Darren said, frowning deeply.
"Don't worry, sir. Maxwell never locks this treasure house. He's so conceited that he thinks no one
would dare go in to try and take anything," the guard replied with a slight shrug.
"Really?" The eyes of both Darren and Murphy lit up simultaneously.
"Open it!"
"Yes, sir."
Without further ado, the guard opened the large iron gate. Darren and Murphy cautiously entered the
treasure house.
The interior was quite big, its walls lined with fine cabinets.
"Huh!" Darren exclaimed in awe. "So many superior Divine Essence Stones!" At the center of the
treasure house lay at least fifty thousand kilograms of Divine Essence Stones.
"Take them!" Murphy urged. Without hesitation, Darren triggered the Space Ring and stored the Divine
Essence Stones in it.
"These weapons are also good," Murphy said, studying the contents of one of the cabinets by the wall.
"They are all at level eight!" Hundreds of level-eight divine weapons were displayed there. Eyeing them
hungrily, Darren took them all without skipping a beat.
Besides those, there were also some magic herbs and elixirs, which Darren also collected next.
"Sir, if I may say," the guard interjected politely. "These are nothing. The most precious ones are in that
cabinet." He pointed at a large red cabinet at the end of the hall.
"What's in it?" Darren asked suspiciously.
"Divine patterns," the guard answered bluntly.
"Great!"
Without even thinking, Darren rushed over to the big red cabinet and flung its heavy doors open.
The next moment, he was stunned by what he saw.
There were at least two thousand complete divine pattern crystals in this cabinet!
"The weakest ones are at level-four, while most of them are at the fifth or sixth levels..." Darren
muttered under his breath after studying them carefully.
There were eighteen level-seven divine patterns and one at level-nine!
"A level-nine divine pattern!" Murphy exclaimed, also shocked. He could not help but take a deep gulp
as he eyed the level-nine divine pattern greedily. A level-nine divine pattern was indeed a very rare
treasure in the world.
"Darren, take them!" he urged.
Darren did not hesitate. In the blink of an eye, he stored all the divine patterns into his Space Ring.
They left no cabinet unopened, no stone unturned until they collected all the treasures. Only then did
they take their leave.
Meanwhile, on the top floor of the castle, the Gambling King sipped wine from his glass, totally
oblivious as to what was happening downstairs.
"Is there any sort of underground jail in this castle?" Darren asked the guard after they left the treasure
house.
"Yes, sir. But the guy guarding it is absolutely terrifying. With Master Murphy's strength, you might be
able to subdue him, but then Maxwell would definitely find out you're here," the guard answered
seriously.
Things were getting tricky.
"Sir," the guard said after a while. "You have already obtained Maxwell's priceless treasures. Why not
just stop here?"
"We came here to rescue someone," Darren said. "Obtaining the treasures was never our main
purpose."
"Oh, I remember that my cousin, who is Maxwell's personal guard, mentioned to me that Maxwell said
that he was going to kidnap someone important for a lot of money." The guard paused. "Do you think
that has anything to do with the person you're trying to rescue, sir?"
"Hmm..." Darren's mind raced.
"Master Murphy," Darren said after a while, once he'd connected the dots. "I think the reason why
Maxwell kidnapped Miss Freda was because he wanted you to make up for the killing points he lost
that day."
"That's highly possible." Murphy nodded in agreement.
"If that truly is the case, then things will be much easier. After all, we have a lot of treasures to
'compensate' him with right now, don't we?" Darren smiled mischievously.
"Do you mean that we should try negotiating with him?" Murphy asked, scratching his chin.
"Yeah!"
Murphy thought for a while and then asked, "What if he didn't do it for money?"
"I don't think that's possible. Maxwell is notorious for his greed and love for gambling. In his eyes, killing
points and divine patterns are everything! Even if he did do it for any other reason, I believe that he will
be open to negotiation, as long as we offer him enough treasures," Darren said confidently.
"You're right. Let's go and find him right now!" Murphy finally agreed.
"Sir, I apologize to interrupt, but could I just say something?" The guard stopped Darren and Murphy in
their tracks.
"What is it?"
"Sir, Maxwell has another treasure house where he stores killing points. Would you like to take those
too?"
"Is the treasure house unlocked?"
"Yes." The guard nodded.
"Ha-ha!" Darren laughed happily, as though he couldn't believe their luck. "Lead the way!"
A few moments later, Darren and Murphy arrived at another treasure house where all kinds of "killing
stones" were stored. After a quick sweep, Darren counted there were around several hundred million
killing points in total.
Darren collected them all in one breath.
"Now, we hold all the cards," Darren said, smiling gleefully.
Turning to the guard, he instructed, "Gather the rest of the believers and find a chance to flee together.
Otherwise, Maxwell will kill you all when he finds out that his treasures have been stolen."
"This is understood. Thank you, sir." The guard saluted to him and then immediately took his leave.
"It's time," Murphy said. "Let's go find Maxwell."
Murphy and Darren flew out of the castle. When they reached the outer gate, Murphy pretended to
have just arrived. He bellowed, "Come out, Maxwell Tang!"
His voice boomed deafeningly, and it seemed that even the castle quivered.
"Who are you? Go to hell!" Darren's believers swarmed out to surround them, putting on an act.
"Shut up!" another voice boomed from the top of the castle. "Mr. Murphy You is an important guest of
mine. Bring him to me." Looking up, everyone saw that the voice belonged to the Gambling King
himself.
"Yes, sir," the guards answered in unison.
Darren and Murphy were then ushered to the top floor of the castle.
They were led to a grand hall. There, they saw Maxwell and two high level guards in the center. To the
side of the hall were three old men. NôvelDrama.Org content.
"Ha-ha, welcome, Murphy!" Maxwell greeted with a fake smile. "And why have you come to visit me?"
"Cut the crap," Murphy said through gritted teeth. "Let go of my daughter, or I will destroy your stupid
castle!" Murphy clenched his fists, his eyes filled with unadulterated fury, as though he was itching to
tear Maxwell to shreds.
"Please don't talk nonsense. I am a man of integrity. Why would I kidnap your daughter?" Maxwell
feigned innocence.
Just as Murphy was about to lose his temper, Maxwell continued, "However, I've heard some news
about your daughter. I'm sure I could help you, in exchange for a little something..."
His words were clear. There was no doubt that Freda was in his hands.
"What do you want?" Murphy roared.
"It's not about what I want, it's about what they want. In fact, I have already inquired about the matter
for you. They only ask for killing points and divine patterns. They don't demand very large numbers."
Maxwell paused dramatically. "They want one hundred million killing points and one hundred level-five
divine patterns," he finally said.
"Do you think I'm like you, Maxwell? Do I look like I have that many killing points and divine patterns?"
Murphy spat disgustedly.
"Stop barking at me like that!" Maxwell snapped impatiently. "I'm just trying to help. If you don't
appreciate my kindness, then get out of here."
"You!" A sword already floated from behind Murphy. "Maxwell, you'd better think about the
consequences. If I fight you and die here today, think about how you can bear the fury of our Starry
Sword Region!"
"Come on, gentlemen! I'm sure you can solve the problem through a peaceful negotiation. Please sit
down!" one of the three old men suddenly cut in. Darren noticed they had been listening with great
interest.
"Fine. Take your time. We can negotiate slowly. I have no plans of killing you, Murphy. However..."
Maxwell's eyes narrowed at Darren. "I will take that brat's life no matter what!"
Actually, ever since Darren and Murphy entered, Maxwell's gaze had been fixed on Darren the whole
time.
Back then, Darren made him lose hundreds of millions of killing points and dozens of level-five divine
patterns. Seething with rage, Maxwell had been plotting to kill Darren ever since then.
However, he dared not attack Darren in person, for fear that he would lose his reputation in the
gambling circle, so he hired the Blood Abyss Sect to do so. To his surprise, Darren had managed to
survive.
And he even dared come here, on his territory. How could he not kill him?
