Chapter 135
Not hesitating, the two staff Sylvie had come with scampered to their feet, scurrying toward the door.
A frown creased Sylvie's forehead. No. She wasn't having the room with him.
Raphael left as well, and within moments, it was just two of them in the room
But Sylvie wasn't having it.
Her hands trembled lightly as she packed up her things from the table. Kage quietly watched her as if he was being entertained. But it wasn't until she stood and turned towards the door that his voice filled the room. "What're you doing?"
Sylvie paused, her heart pounding in her chest as she held her bag strapped over her arm and her tablet to her chest.
She stilled, failing miserably at forming any words.
"I'd suggest you take your seat," Kage spoke in that frighteningly authoritative tone of his.
Only now, it got on Sylvie's nerves and she wished she could talk back at him.
But there was no way. Kage still had that effect on her-the one she'd always felt when they'd been married lovelessly for two years.
"I came here because I thought you were interested in checking out our designs. It turns out that wasn't the case. And if there's no business involved, I wouldn't want to be here, Mr. Hawkins," she managed to reply without looking at him.
She heard a cold scoff behind her. "If money's the problem, I could get a hundred designs if that'll make you happy."
She whirled around instantly, her eyes flashing with disbelief from the implied insult in his statement. What the hell did he mean!? Money wasn't her or the family's problem and he knew it. Wanting to stay serious on business was different from being a money monger.
Yet, as she glared at him, she couldn't get any of the words out. She wasn't even sure she was glaring at him as she thought she was.
Goosebumps filled her skin the moment he drew back his chair and stood up. His eyes were fixed on her as he moved, coming closer. Something sharp hit her chest.
Even now, he still looked so charming. So effortlessly good.
Memories she wished could stay buried flooded her thoughts, making her weak in the bones.
'You're my family now, Sylvie. Three of you. I won't stand by and watch anyone threaten you. Not even my own mother.' she remembered his words from that day when he'd stood up to his mother for her sake.
She exhaled a shaky breath, lowering her eyes to the floor and pushing the memory to the the dark recess of her mind. They meant nothing to him now. They should mean nothing to her as well.
But staying composed grew more difficult with each step that brought him closer to her. And although, she wasn't looking at him, she could feel his dark eyes eating her up, like a true predator. For a moment, she feared he was going to get too close and touch her, but he stopped about three feet away, one hand casually slid in his pocket.

Sylvie's gaze remained on the floor, able to stare at his shoes now Despite the guilt she felt for what she and Lancelot did to him, she still feld bittered towards him and held her grudge." "Do you have a problem with Cindy being my girlfriend?" He finally asked, his question being the one thing Sylvie never expected.
She dragged her eyes from the floor to meet his, her forehead creased in confusion.
There was still that usual fake amusement in his eyes, like he enjoyed whatever it was he was doing to her.
"Why would I?"A note of annoyance crept into her voice. "You're free to date whoever you see fit, Mr. Hawkins."
Sylvie knew she should be careful with her tone and words around him. He was dangerous and had the power to hurt her and her family.
"Is that so?" Kage tilted his head. "Yet, you make it seem like you hold a grudge."
"I don't," she spat out almost immediately, her face crumpled in a frown. "Your girlfriend pushed me into the pool yesterday, just in case she didn't tell herself."

"Yeah, after you slapped her."
Her tongue got tied. Well, that was true.
Her grip tightened around her bag as her gaze lowered to the floor again.
just feel... maybe it'll be better if she doesn't always show up dressed like me. Or is it merely a coincidence? Every single time?" She was proud that she didn't stutter.
She wondered if Kage hadn't noticed that his girlfriend was always trying to look like her. He was smarter than that. He should've noticed by now.
This time, there was no amusement in Kage's eyes, not even a hint. When Sylvie looked at him, she found out that he'd. slipped on his cold mask once more, appearing really frightening. Now, Sylvie really wanted to leave. Being near him was torturous, anyway.
She turned toward the door, taking some steps forward, and this time, he didn't try to stop her.
But when she had her hand wrapped around the knob, she paused, tears burning the back of her eyes.
Despite the ache she felt in her heart, walking away from him made her sadder. Hurt like hell.
Maybe she could get something out of this meeting once and for all. There were a couple questions in her mind, but she opted for the easier one.
"How could you be with her?" The question left her lips as she turned around, facing him again. "You knew it was her. You knew she betrayed me. Destroyed us." wwwwwNôvelDrama.Org is the owner.
She paused briefly to take a wavering breath. "I understand that I hurt you, Kage, and what I did was unforgivable. But of al people, why did it have to be Cindy?"
