After Linda walked into her office, she was momentarily stunned by Luke's presence. However, she quicldy regained her composure, returning to her usual demeanor. She sat down at her desk and called the internal line to have Wendy bring in coffee. "What brought you here?" she asked.
Chloe had mentioned recently that Luke was quite busy, likely due to a large jewelry exhibition featuring many of his works. Given Luke's current standing in the jewelry world, it was no surprise that his pieces were showcased.
"I heard from my mother that you're interested in working on the 'Chasing the Light" project," Lake said, raising an eyebrow as he looked at Linda with clear eyes.
"News travels t
fast, Linda noted.
Wendy soon arrived with two cups of coffee. Linda's was black, with no sugar or milk, as she no longer liked sweet flavors.
Luke smelled the bitter, astringent taste and commented, "Isn't it very bitter?"
"The more bitter it is, the more pronounced the aftertaste," Linda replied, her words seemingle an answer but also suggesting something more.
"if you want to pursue this project, I can offer some assistance," Luke then said, getting straight to the point. He had come to the company specifically to discuss this matter with Linda *know that william has likely already provided you with a lot of resources, but mine would be different. While his backing as an investor is strong, my connections are just as valuable."
He knew everything.
"if this project succeeds, it will not only help your future works with awards but also boost your reputation in the domestic industry. Additionally, you wouldn't have to struggle with taking on unwanted jobs.
"I heard from your artist management department head that you don't care much about awards and just want to tell your own stories.
"But you must understand that this mindset doesn't work in the domestic industry. Without any awards, this path isn't sustainable. Domestic attitudes are deeply ingrained, and many believe that only those who win awards are truly excellent.
"Of course, I understand that you don't mind how others perceive you However, you need to think about your work. One must learn to adapt and not be so rigid
"Since you've already accepted resources from William, I'm offering you my resources as well. It would be a waste if you don't make use of them."
Linda was well aware of what Luke was suggesting
"Why are you helping me?" she asked directly. "I'm married and have a child. There's no possibility between us. You're just wasting your efforts if you expect to gain anything from me."Ccontent © exclusive by Nô/vel(D)ra/ma.Org.
Suddenly, Luke stood up, looking down at Linda, "Linda, do you think I don't know what your relationship with Samson is?
"Are you brave mough to look me in the eye and tell me that Lex is your biological child, not one you and Samson adopted as a couple?"
His tone was firm and deliberate, with a soft but unmistakable pressure.
Linda suddenly recalled his previous phone call, where he said he knew everything and didn't care about her past. At the time, she had only thought he was just persistent.
