Chapter 180
That night, Samson and Linda attended a networking party together.
It was at this very party that Linda bumped into William once again.
Samson was ushered away by a few seniors in the field while Linda found a place to sit down and wait.
She didn't particularly like events like that, but she couldn't help all the invites that poured in after their relationship was revealed.
Several wives of presidents and chairmen came over with their children in an attempt to strike up a conversation.
Thankfully, they knew to walk away once Linda showed zero interest.
She knew networking and socializing were necessary when it came to business and forming connections.
Personally, however, she couldn't really accept it.
She walked out onto the balcony with a glass of champagne.
The cold February air was cool against her skin.
"Linda, can we talk?" William said, suddenly appearing behind her.
He looked exhausted.
"I don't think we have anything to talk about. If it's about my marriage and my daughter, I'll have to politely decline."
"Did you really want to get married, or did you do it just to get me off your back?"
Linda laughed out loud when she heard William.
Where was he getting all of that audacity? Did he think he was worth concocting such a huge lie just to get him off her back?
"Mr. Wilson, I think you're suffering from some serious delusions. You should seek a doctor. You're not that important to me. You're not worth going to all that trouble to get you to stop bothering me. In fact, your actions are completely irrelevant to me."
A cold gust of evening wind blew past, causing Linda to tighten her shawl around her shoulders.
She continued, "Mr. Wilson, I think you're getting too confident for your own good. I'm not the same foolish woman who would fight her family for you from four years ago. I'm not that stupid anymore. Everything I've done since then has been for myself.
"I am married, and I have a daughter. I have a new life, and as your ex-wife, I hope you can also find a new life instead of clinging on to me. I'm not that indispensable for you to spend so much time trying to win me back.
"I hope you understand the saying that a good horse doesn't turn back to the same pasture. Both you and I have to move on."
She then walked back into the hall, ignoring William completely.
She hadn't said anything harsh, but her words had definitely been.
hurtful.
Right at that moment, Samson came over to meet her again.
"It's only February, but the breeze is getting pretty cold. You're barely. dressed warmly enough. Aren't you worried you'll get sick if you go on the balcony?"Property © 2024 N0(v)elDrama.Org.
As he spoke, he took his blazer off and laid it over her shoulders, causing Linda to look up and smile at him.
"I don't think I'll get sick from just that. I might not be the toughest, but I'm not that weak. Maybe you're thinking of Lexi."
"If Lexi knew you got sick because you came out with me, I'm never
going to hear the end of it from her when we get back home."
William just so happened to witness that interaction.
There were a lot of wives and mistresses attending the event, who all felt incredibly envious of Linda as they watched that exchange.
