Chapter 2276
Things looked difficult right now.
It was like reaching for the impossible.
But he deserved this.
He had hurt her, broke her heart in fact. So, it was appropriate that he had to work extremely hard to make it up to her.
"And Preslie?" Sheldon asked as he looked back at Tremaine.
Tremaine could see what Sheldon was concerned about.
He said quietly, "Since she doesn't want to help me, I'll leave her alone for now."All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.
Preslie was Yesseca's best friend.
He wasn't going to force her to do this for him.
Preslie returned to Yesseca's house.
Yesseca was currently experimenting with a new pastry recipe. She had just placed the dough in the over when Preslie walked in. After washing her hands, she walked over to Preslie and asked, "Well? How did your dinner date with Sheldon go?"
Preslie looked down and quickly said, "Oh, nothing happened."
She then quickly rushed into her bedroom.
She was feeling very conflicted right now.
She was also feeling very angry and ashamed of herself.
She thought the reason Mr. Hawls had invited her out was to confess his feelings for her. Instead, all he wanted was her to help him!
Only a weirdo like herself would ever think a man like him fancied her!
Preslie was very upset!
She didn't want to think about this anymore! All she wanted to do was to be in her bedroom and go to sleep!
Maybe after a good sleep, she might not be in such a foul mood anymore!
Yesseca on the other hand, noticed that something was wrong.
Her heart skipped a beat.
"Has something happened?"
Yesseca immediately stopped Preslie. "What's wrong? Did something go wrong with your date with Sheldon?"
Preslie eyes turned red.
Her face blushed. She felt extremely embarrassed.
Her eyes were turning red because she was feeling very uncomfortable.
She then said, "No Yesseca. Mr. Hawls never invited me out to a dinner date in the first place. I was just being a stupid fool for thinking that!" Yesseca looked at her quietly.
Sheldon hadn't invited Preslie out for a date or to confess to her. So what did he call her out for?
He had suddenly called her that evening and invited her out to dinner. He had even explicitly asked her to come alone. If he hadn't done that to confess, then what for?
Looking into Yesseca's confused
gaze, she said listlessly, "He had just
called me out for a casual chat. There's nothing else to it, Yesseca. I'm tired, so I'm going to bed now. You should as well."
She noticed that Preslie was purposefully avoiding her, she quickly asked, "Preslie, what's going on? Something must have happened."
Preslie bit her lip. She sounded very
sad and depressed. "Nothing happened. It was all in my head. Mr. Hawls had only asked me out for a friendly meal. I was being silly for thinking all those things."
Yesseca held her breath.

She then said cautiously, "Preslie, I don't think Sheldon would have asked you out for dinner and asked you to go alone for no reason. Maybe he wanted to confess his feelings to you, but didn't have the courage to do so?"
Sheldon may be a colonel in Nashaland, but he was still a very reserved man.
Especially when it comes to relationships!
This only made Preslie feel even more bitter inside.
She shook her head and said, "No, he had only invited me out for a meal. Nothing more. There's nothing more to it, Yesseca."
She couldn't tell Yesseca the truth, so she had to make up an excuse.
Noticing how certain Preslie was, she must be telling the truth.
She felt that this was her fault.
She was the one who told Preslie that Sheldon was inviting her out on a date in the first place. She gave Preslie the wrong idea.
Yesseca said apologetically, "Preslie, it was my fault. I got the wrong idea and then encouraged you along."
