Chapter 27: 27. His Wrath for Her

D's PoV

My darling hubby didn't come home yet. I waited for him in the evening, but he didn’t come. We all ate dinner but he is yet to come. When he didn't come in the evening to taste my special treat for him, I felt a little disappointed. But then, Ravi said he might have had some work to finish and that is why he didn't come in the evening but he will for sure come home for dinner. So I prepared dinner and waited for him again, all in vain.

Tired of watching TV all alone I decided to go and wait for him in our room. When I woke up it was already 8 o'clock in the morning. God, when did I fall asleep? I ran down after all my morning routine. When I reached the dining hall Uncle and Ravi were eating their breakfast. I said a good morning timidly and sat near Ravi to have my breakfast.

"Where is your brother?" I asked him in his ears.

"He went to the office early today, anni. He didn’t tell you?" This content provided by N(o)velDrama].[Org.

"I don’t know when he came home last night. It was 11.30 when I went to our room. I don’t know when I slept. "

"Oh! He must be having some work, anni. Just call him during his lunch break. After all I saw your romance and he is sure to come running to you if not for his work." He winked at me.

"oh! shut up Ravi!" Though what he said soothed my heart, I dismissed him.

After my uncle left for work, Me and Ravi were watching TV. I told him about Shanu’s visit this weekend and he got all excited.

"Anni! We are going anywhere she wants on that day."

"Hey hold on. Who told you that we are going to tag you along with us?" I asked him to tease him.

"Who should!? I invited myself along! I'm coming". He said.

"You are not coming!"

"I am coming!"

"No, you are not!"

"I am"

We had a little fun fight and our day went on by watching movies. I made good friends with Roshan. He is an active little guy. We dance, paint and play in the lawn. He kept me in good company when everyone leaves for their work.

Our neighbor is a young couple. Rohit and Shanaya. How romantic, they named their kid combining their names together. Shanaya is 28yrs old. Rohit is 32yrs old. I like Shanaya, she is a nice friendly woman. Rohit is a handsome guy. But I felt like he was flirting with me. He always calls me out to the compound wall to give Roshan over it. He prolongs the time there by talking. I have always enjoyed this kind of attention in my college days. But now, I don’t like it. I feel weird about it. For some reason, I feel like he is not a genuine person and I hate his looks on me.

It's been two days since I saw my hubby. He comes home after I sleep and goes to work before I wake up. He never once answered my calls and messages. How rude!?

Ravi said he must have piles of work as he took a week's leave for the wedding. That makes sense. But I'm sad. I madly want to see him. I BADLY MISS HIM. Will he miss me too!??? I wish he would. Uncle called me late in the afternoon.

"Hello Kanna! What are you doing?"

"Nothing, uncle. I'm bored."

"I forgot to tell you that Rishi's maternal uncle (thaai mama) and his daughter are coming tomorrow to our home for the weekend. Shakshi didn’t come to your wedding because she was in the USA. So, she wants to see you. She just came yesterday to India."

"Oh, sure, uncle. I can make 2 rooms ready for them." I told him.

"Thanks, kanna. Subramani will stay in the guest room. Just make the third room upstairs ready for Shakshi."

"Sure mama. Will do." I hung up on him and wondered who this Shakshi is? Shakshi, Smriti, god, who else am I going to face before I win my hubby’s love?

I asked Savitri to clean up the room and change the bedsheets myself. All set for the new guests. It's already Friday and still no sign of my hubby. I think he should be free on saturday and sunday. I mean I'm worried about his health. For as far as I know, he has been eating all the three meals of the day, out. I really wish his work is over.

No one is home and I'm with Roshan. His parents left him with me to have their lone time. It's Friday evening.

"Akka! I'm hungry. Shall I go home and have some milk and a snack?" Shan asked me.

"No, Shan. I will give you milk. You tell me what snack you want. I can make it for you."

"Mmmm I need almond milk and cookies and chocolates."

"Almond milk, yes. cookies, yes. but no chocolates. Remember what I told you about cavities?"

"please akka!"

"Ah ah, No."

"Ok atleast can we dance?" He asked me, putting his best puppy eyes.

"For sure, sweetheart. Go and get my phone from the room. I will make your milk."

"Ok akka". He ran to the room and I went to the kitchen to make almond milk.

"Shan! Come quick. We can play dumb charade until your milk is ready."

He came running with my phone and we started playing dumb charades with things name. I acted for Scissors and he got it right. He acted for swimming and I got it right. We took turns. It was a fun game. I gave him his milk and cookies on the dining table and went back to the kitchen to make dinner. I planned to make dinner tonight already. So, Chinna anna went home at noon.I'm now making chicken stew for appam. I played the songs on my phone and started working.

It is my all-time favorite song. I was singing along...

'Kalvare kalvare! kan pugum kalvare

Kai kondu paareero...

Kan kondu sayreero...

Kathai solli thaareero...

Ummai enni ummai enni

Oomai Kangal thoongathu...

thalaiva en thalaiva! Agam ariveero

Arul puriveero...

Kalam thorum azhagin baram koodum koodum kuraiyathu

uravey en urave udai kalaiveero....'(Oh Mr. Thief, the one that steals my eyes, Feel me with your hands, couple our hearts with your captivating eyes. Your thoughts are keeping me wide awake at nights, Oh Lord, try to know my heart. The beauty of our love grows as time grows, oh my love, undress me…)

"Huh!" I turned to see my raging husband and I literally felt a knot in my stomach out of pure fear.

WHAT JUST HAPPENED? WHY IS HE IN SO MUCH ANGER?

I didn’t know when he came in but Rishi just threw my phone to the ground and it broke into pieces. He looked me in the eye for a split second. He turned his head away and went upstairs before I came out of the shock.

What did I do? My eyes are welling up with tears and I saw Roshan standing at the kitchen door all scared and ready to cry. I consoled myself.

"Hey Shan! Come here bud. It's nothing. Uncle didn’t like the song. He is so tired right now.

He works all week long and he needs some rest and quiet time. And you already know that I'm a naughty girl, right? So, uncle thought I won’t listen to him if he says NO SONGS. It’s alright hon." I told him, poor little boy. I told it more to myself as we are both equally terrified of Rishi.

"No! He fights with you. He is so bad. He broke your new phone." Shan said in the midst of his sobs.

"No! No no sweetheart! He is a very nice man. He is just tired. You throw tantrums too. Does that mean Shan is a bad boy?"

"No, I'm a good boy"

"Exactly. Uncle is also a good boy." I tried telling him. He can’t go on and talk about this in his home. I don't like it one bit.

It's 7pm and Roshan's parents came and took him away. I made some coffee for him. I'm all scared of him again. Are we in square 1 again? His look on me had no emotion. His face was rock hard just like it was on our wedding day. And I thought we are making progress in our relationship!

I repeated the same thing that I told Shan to myself. He is tired. He needs rest. When I started to go upstairs with the coffee, the door-bell rang. I kept the coffee on the table in the hall and opened the door.

There was a beautiful woman standing outside. She is dressed in a beautiful salwar that looks so expensive. But she looks like an old painting, all her beauty and glory faded under her gloomy eyes and pale skin color. She looks so tired.

"Hi! I want to meet Rishi and Rajashekar uncle. Are they home?" she asked me, trying to smile nicely. Did she just talk or sang? Her voice is a melody. I smiled back at her.

"Please come in. Rishi is upstairs. And uncle is yet to come. Wait here. I will call him". I told her, opening the door for her.

"And who are you?" She asked me. Is she a bit rude?

"I'm.... I'm his wife." Did she just smirked at me? But why?

"Are you Shakshi?" I asked her before I heard Rishi getting down the stairs.
