Chapter 160
Avery’s pov
His playful words were an obvious tease to make me loosen up and it did, the tension in my body easing a bit. I nod, a grin of my own tugging at the corners of my lips. I needed to relax and focus on the trust I had for him.
He’d never hurt me.NôvelD(ram)a.ôrg owns this content.
In any form.
“We head east,” Xaden said as he starts to peel his shirt off. ” I’ll lead and Kaylee will be at the back,” he glances at Kaylee. ” she volunteered to be the one to protect from the back.”
Kaylee smiles at me and Xade shyly and bowed her head. ” Dad said he told Beta Logan to expect us at the border since going east will have us end up there directly,” Xaden continues. ” If we go quick enough we will get there before the sun sets.”
Xade nods.” Stay on high alert, this may be our turf but the hunters are conniving,” he warned his brother and stepped back. He begins to peel his shirt off and Kaylee turns to head to the back of the car to take off her clothes.
Do you have to make everything look like you’re trying to seduce her?” Xaden snorted making Xade send him a sharp glare. Xade continues to peel off his clothes and when he is stark naked he looks at me intensely and takes several steps back.
He tosses the clothes at Xaden who puts them in the duffel bag he took from the back.
Trust me okay?” he whispered softly. I nod, chewing the inside of my cheek as Xade takes a couple more steps back.
With his eyes on me, the air shifts around us. The sound of bones breaking fills the stuffy air and then I watch in awe as dark fur sprouts from his skin, bones breaking and reshaping. He falls to his knees, snarling and keeping his eyes on me.
If this was anyone else I would be terrified. But I am not. Not when his eyes portrayed so much of the love he had for me.
His human form melts away and is replaced by a powerful wolf that was literally the size of the vehicle. My breath hitches. No wonder they cannot be seen, anyone with a brain would know that this kind of beast is not a regular wolf.
I continue to stare at him as his beast growled and shook his dark fur. He was beautiful. So beautiful.
You should hurry up get on him V,” Xaden urged, pulling me out of my thoughts. I smile nervously and took a step toward Xade’s beast. I took in a deep breath, trying to steady my nerves as I approach his intimidating form.
As I look into his eyes, I relaxed. Despite how intimidating and powerful his beast was, Xade’s eyes remain soft and warm on me. Even in this form, he has me melting for him.
Beside him now I can feel the heat of his beast brushing against me. His fur was dark and thick and I couldn’t help but reach out to brush my fingers through it. He rumbles, something close to a purr, his snout brushing my stomach.
I smile. ” You’re beautiful,” I said truthfully and his head lift.
My heart races with the emotions I witness running through his eyes and lean down to kiss his snout. “I love every part of you, beast or man, I love you,”
Xade nudges his snout against my lips and I giggle, pushing his head away playfully. “Ew it’s cold,” I joked and his eyes twinkle happily. He lowered himself, silently telling me to get on his back.
Taking in a breath I do just that, remembering to clutch his fur tightly as he instructed. When he lifts to his full height I let out a shocked faint squeal, feeling the strength under me.
Xaden throws the duffel bag by his head and Xade catches it in his jaw. We need to leave now, Dad said they still have a long way to go to get out of there. The line is pretty long and the hold-up is longer.”
I frowned and then looked back when I heard a faint rustle behind us. A copper wolf not as big as Xade comes behind us. Those eyes told me it was Kaylee. She was pretty.
When Xaden shifts, all three take off. I had to clutch Xade tightly as I watch the trees turn into a blur of green and brown around us. Despite how quick we were going, I could not help but feel that something was off.
