Chapter 638

“This…”

“Cynthia” NôvelDrama.Org owns this text.

Both father and daughter were caught off guard. They had not expected Cynthia to say something like this. “Are you still not over your relationship with Joshua?” Jonathan was more concerned about this. He speculated that this might be the case.

There was a significant difference between a divorce and a breakup. Even though Cynthia’s self– adjustment abilities were impressive, it was still challenging, given it was only a few months.

“It’s not about that. I don’t want to marry for the sake of marrying, and I refuse to compromise in my life. Marriage should be sacred and joyful,” Cynthia replied indifferently. As for Joshua, she had moved on. She began adjusting her mindset the moment he brought up that issue.

When they officially divorced, she had already made significant adjustments, even though it felt sudden and painful. However, now, she has let go of everything.

“Cynthia I’m reconsidering this whole idea of getting married. Why don’t we, as sisters, support each other and grow old together?” Shirley’s voice was soft, prodding her index finger in contemplation.

Cynthia, seeing through her little act, responded, “Sounds like a plan. However, what about your boyfriend Zachary?”

Shirley froze, She had accidentally spilled the beans. She started signaling desperately to Cynthia, her palm–sized face crinkling with worry

Cynthia looked puzzled at first but quickly understood. Before she could say anything, however, the confused voice of Jonathan, their father, echoed in the room. “Who is this Zachary? Have you got a boyfriend?”

Shirley fell silent, shooting Cynthia a pleading look for help.

“What’s there to fear? Cynthia nonchalantly brushed it off, her usual stern expression softening into a playful smirk. “If you plan on growing old with me, we can easily put an end to your romantic tale by getting our father to play the spoiler. That would give you a perfect excuse to break up.”

“Sister! You’re so mean!” Shirley pouted.

Cynthia lightly tapped her on the forehead, her voice carrying a hint of chastisement. “Let’s see if you’ll keep your tongue in

check next time.”

“I will,” Shirley replied obediently.

Meanwhile, Jonathan looked utterly baffled.

He stared at Shirley, experiencing a whirlwind of emotions, before finally asking, “When did you get a boyfriend? How old is he? How did you meet him? What kind of person is he? Why didn’t you tell me about this?”

Shirley was besieged by his barrage of questions.

“He’s from the same school as Shirley, they started dating a while back. They’re about the same age, and he’s quite a nice person,” Cynthia intervened, coming to her sister’s aid.

“What about his family background?” Jonathan asloed again.

Shirley’s heart sank. Zachary’s family was… rather ordinary. She wondered if their father would disapprove.

Not daring to object at that moment, she could only pin her hopes on her older sister.

“Do you need to know his family background?” Cynthia Inquired.

“He must be a man of integrity,” Jonathan replied straight away.

“He is, extremely! His parents are wonderful people, his sister is adorable, they are all kind–hearted,” Shirley suddenly piped in, her eyes brighter than ever.

The moment those words left her mouth, the gazes of Cynthia and Jonathan landed on her simultaneously.

Shirley looked perplexed, completely oblivious to the issue. “What… What’s wrong?”
