Chapter 81
Before Selena could get a word in, she was met with a flood of tears.
Under the dim lights, Margot sobbed, looking utterly pitiful. "Mrs. Bennett, I know people can be blunt, and maybe that upset you, but I didn't say anything. You can't just take your anger out on me because you don't want to upset others." Her words seemed to drip with sorrow.
Selena rolled her eyes dramatically. She had been curious about what cunning plan Margot might have had up her sleeve, but this was it?
With such terrible acting and over-the-top dialogue, did Margot really think she could make it in showbiz?
To be honest, Selena had always had a low tolerance for foolishness, and she couldn't help but speak up, "Margot, did you even check for cameras before making a fool of yourself?"
She tilted her chin, pointing towards the camera discreetly mounted in the corner. It had undoubtedly captured everything crystal clear.
Margot glanced at it instinctively, her expression flickering. She hadn't noticed the camera before.
The guests' attention had fully shifted to them. Everett was chatting with Cole's grandfather Thomas, updating him on his grandfather's condition.
Jaime gave Everett a quick nudge, whispering, "Everett, look over there. Your wife and Margot are in the middle of something!"
Everett turned his gaze, a storm brewing in his eyes. He politely excused himself and strode over with purpose.
As he approached, Margot bit her lip, quickly masking her panic, then clutched her stomach, beginning to cry out in pain, "Everett, my stomach hurts so badly..."
Selena couldn't help but chuckle at the performance.
However, Everett walked past her, his legitimate wife, as if she were invisible, heading straight for Margot. He shrugged off his coat, draped it over her shoulders, then scooped her up and headed towards the lounge. The whole scene played out like a flawless knight-in-shining-armor moment.
Selena stood frozen, her smile turning brittle. This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.
The guests, of course, started whispering amongst themselves, their eyes casting judgmental glances filled with ridicule, disdain, and a thirst for drama, which all crashed over her like a tidal
wave.
After three years of marriage, and even if this had become the norm, no moment had made her feel smaller than this one.
Her hands, hanging by her sides, clenched into tight fists. She turned and followed them.
Everett laid Margot on the couch and was about to call Derick when his elbow was caught. He turned to see Selena's impassive face.
Her dark eyes locked onto his as she said, word by word, "I didn't push her. Do you believe me?"
How would the guests see this, if not as her being the villain? She refused to take the fall for this, especially not for such petty tricks.
Upon hearing this, Margot, fearing
her lie would be exposed, upped the
ante, crying out, "Everett, my stomach really hurts, and I feel like throwing up. I'm so scared...

"Margot, keep acting. I'll have someone check the surveillance right now!" Selena said, her disgust cutting through her bitter laugh.
Yet Everett, impatient, scolded, "Is this really the time for that?"
He dialed Derick, instructing him to get the car ready.
After hanging up, he moved to lift
Margot again, clearly planning to et
take the feigning damsel to the hospital and leave his wife behind once more.
With renewed determination, Selena grabbed Everett's arm tightly, her fingertips turning white.
Usually, she wouldn't mind him leaving with the mistress, but today, at this moment, she simply couldn't let him go.
Maybe part of her still clung to him, but more than that, it was about the battle between two women.
