Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 33

A bitter taste crept up her throat as she watched Everett's cold, indifferent profile, and suddenly, Margot came to mind. If Margot and Rebecca were to have a falling out today, who would he stand by? Would he, as always, protect his dear cousin, or would he side with the

woman of his dreams? These thoughts swirled in her mind until she blurted out the question.

Everett's brows knitted in confusion, his patience wearing thin. "I'm talking about you. Why are you dragging in irrelevant stuff?"This content provided by N(o)velDrama].[Org.

"Hmph," Selena let out a light, mocking laugh. His avoidance and irritation spoke volumes. Margot versus Rebecca? The answer was obvious-it would always be Margot. Selena, would always be unimportant to him. No, that wasn't quite right. Despite all her efforts, Selena remained stuck outside his gates to his heart. Bickering about it seemed pointless.

In a heartbeat, Selena returned to her usual composed self, saying calmly, "Fine, I'll apologize." Making promises was easy enough. If he thought she'd actually apologize, he'd be waiting forever!

Lately, she'd been acting up like someone possessed, driving Everett up the wall. Even though she'd finally backed down, his frustration lingered. Noticing her pale lips and slightly reddened eyes, anyone would think he had hurt her deeply! But it was all her doing- throwing tantrums and playing the victim for show.

"Bad news! Mr. Josh has fainted!" A servant dashed out, shouting frantically.

Everett's face changed, and he sprinted toward the master bedroom. Selena, initially frozen, quickly shook off her gloom and followed him in haste.

In the bedroom, Josh lay motionless, his face ashen. Selena felt her mind go blank, her limbs weak. Josh was getting on in years, but he'd always been fairly healthy. What in the world happened?

Callum arrived shortly, examined Josh with a calm demeanor, administered first aid, and turned to Everett. "We need to get him to the hospital."

Everett nodded, instructing the staff to get the car ready. They carefully loaded Josh onto the car, with Callum accompanying him to keep watch, while Derick drove off.

Everett got into another car, started the engine, but noticed Selena sti standing there, dazed. He honked loudly. "Selena, what are you doing standing there? Get in the cap, now!"

The sharp sound snapped Selena out of it. She frowned at Everett, annoyed by his attitude, but knowing there was no time for a spat, she

took a deep breath and walked over.

She headed straight for the back door, opened it, sat down, and closed it in one smooth move. Everett's face darkened. "Sit in the front. What am I, your chauffeur?" Selena stayed put, unfazed. "You're really arguing about this now? Just drive! Grandpa's waiting for us!"

Everett, seething, gripped the steering wheel tighter, but he's worried about his grandpa and let it go. He slammed the pedal, and the car sped off.

When they reached the hospital, Josh was immediately taken to surgery. After about three hours, the red light finally dimmed, and Callum emerged in his scrubs.

He removed his mask and looked at Everett, "Josh's condition is stable for now."

Everett clapped him on the shoulder, "Thanks for everything."

The others breathed a sigh of relief. But Selena, catching the "for now," couldn't help but wonder-what exactly was wrong with Josh?

Josh was transferred to a ward, still unconscious and Everett suggested everyone else head home while he. stayed to keep watch. As his wife Selena naturally stayed too. This time, she had no complaints or reluctance. She cared for Josh like her own grandfather and couldn't relax until he was awake.
