Chapter 304
"What? You're not even pregnant, and you're hogging the chicken soup? That's not really fair, is it?"
"That big pot of soup, you think you can finish it all?" Beverley couldn't believe the nonsense coming out of her mouth. "Of course I can."NôvelDrama.Org owns this.
"What are you trying to say?"
Millie dropped the pretense. "Well, since it was made for me, it's probably best if others don't drink it, don't you think?" "Fine," Beverley said, putting the bowl down with a scoff, "then enjoy it all by yourself!"
And with that, she turned and left.
Millie smirked triumphantly, glancing over the two bowls of soup on the table with disdain before heading back to her room.
"Why didn't you eat your chicken soup?!" Millie, just waking up from a nap, yawned and replied, "Just wasn't in the mood for it anymore, is there a problem?" "You-"
"Beverley, could you knock before entering my room next time? You might startle the baby."
Beverley was speechless.
At night, Millie sat in the living room watching TV.
Beverley suggested she take a walk in the garden for the baby's health, but Millie ignored her.
"Beverley, since you're so free, why don't you run out and get me some clam chowder? From that place downtown, you know, Old Joe's, they have the best taste." Beverley glanced outside; it was already dark.
Driving downtown would take at least an hour, round trip nearly two, and for what? Clam chowder?
Even if she went, it'd be cold by the time she got back.
"It might be closed by now. How about I ask Sadie to whip up something similar here at home..."
Millie slowly said, "But can home cooking match the taste of Old Joe's? They don't close till eleven, if you go now, you might just make it in time."
Beverley wasn't pleased, to say the least. Standing in line for clam chowder this late?
What was she thinking!
"Do you think I want to eat it? It's the baby who's craving it."
"If you don't go, I won't be able to sleep tonight. If I can't sleep, your grandchild will be uncomfortable."
"The doctor said I shouldn't be stressed or agitated..."
Beverley sighed, "I'll send the driver. Or maybe get a delivery."
It wouldn't cost much.
Millie blinked, "But the baby said he wants it bought by grandma, what do we do?"
Beverley was at a loss for words.
et fel?
"Oh well, I guess that's how it is when you're not loved," Millie said with a look of disappointment, "Ugh.. my stomach is starting to hurt again..."
"Fine!" Beverley gritted her teeth, her face twitching in an effort to contain her anger, "Grandma will go get it!"
With that, she stormed out, calling the driver: "To downtown."
Millie smiled, "Lara, can you wash some cherries for me?"
"Sadie I hear you're quite the cook. I'm craving clam chowder; could you make some?"
Sadie frowned, "But ma'am has already gone out to get some..."
"And how long am I supposed to wait? I want it now!"
"I'll call her to come back, then she won't need to buy it."
Millie scoffed, "No need. I want to try both, homemade and from Old Joe's."
Sadie was at a loss.
What a day!
Beverley's trip was far from pleasant. A downpour started, and Old Joe's was tucked away in a back alley, requiring a walk and a wait in line.
After finally getting the chowder, she
returned to find the living room dark. Lara said Millie had already eaten and had gone upstairs to sleep half an hour ago.
Beverley was furious, smashing the takeout container in her hand!
"That little brat!" She'd deal with her eventually.
Chowder spilled everywhere, making a mess.
Sadie just shook her head.
Truly, it was exhausting.
The next day, Millie complained about her lack of appetite, expressing a desire for something more flavorful.
Beverley prepared mushroom soup, fish maw, and even made a pork knuckle soup with soybeans, hoping to nourish her.
But Millie barely tasted it before spitting it out.
"What is this? It's so greasy. Is this
supposed to be for pregnant
women? I asked for something
flavorful, and you give me this? Tastes like swill!"
