Let's Start All Over Again, Shall We (Maggie and Nathaniel)

Chapter 21

Chapter 21

Chapter 21 The Moon Is Beautiful Tonight.

Maggie paid no attention to Joseph’s thoughts. She would be pleased if he was so angry that he fell ill.

Just a few steps away, her phone suddenly rang.

Nathaelt

Without hesitation, she answered, “Hello, Mr. Harris?”

Nathael’s deep and clear voice came from the phone, “You left something at my place.”

Maggie was not surprised and asked, “Is it my handbag?”

Yes.

“Can I pick it up tomorrow?”

The jade pendant that proved her identity was in the bag, and she had intentionally left it there. Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.

She had always wanted an opportunity to see him again.

“Turn around,” the man’s deep voice sounded. His tone was warmer than before.

Maggie was stunned for a few seconds. Subconsciously, she turned around and saw a black Maybach parked a little distance away from her on the small road in front of the apartment.

The street light cast a faint halo on the car, giving it a beautiful, glossy, luxurious, yet understated appearance.

At this moment, Nathael leaned against the car door and bit a cigarette.

His well–tailored dark suit exuded a deep and restrained elegance. However, his tie was loosely pulled low around his neck, and a few buttons on his shirt/were undone, adding a touch of charming recklessness.

For some reason, at this moment, Maggie thought of a phrase.

When the lights first come on, and people are bustling around, I can always spot you at first glance.

Ignoring everything else, she rushed towards Nathael. Her eyes filled with joy.

“Why are you here?”

She was genuinely happy but couldn’t explain why. It seemed she couldn’t help but feel happy whenever she saw him.

“I’m delivering something.” Nathael extinguished the cigarette in his mouth. A small and exquisite handbag rested in his palm like a piece of artwork.

“Thank you.”

Maggie didn’t know what to say after taking her bag.

She thought she would have to make another trip, so she didn’t expect him to come.

She didn’t know when he had arrived or how much he had seen of her and Joseph. Maggie carefully recalled. When Joseph hadn’t left, he should have been in the car.

She only remembered a car parked not far away but didn’t see anyone else.

As Maggie was lost in thought, the handsome face in front of her suddenly leaned closer, Nathael bent down. His clear and handsome face suddenly magnified several times. His tall figure cast a shadow that enveloped her.

“How will you thank me?”

His beautiful, narrow eyes reflected her image. When he smirked, his breath was warm, and his words. seemed to carry an inexplicable flirtation.

Maggie stared at him blankly. She forgot to breathe for a moment, and her cheeks started to heat up.

How should I thank him?

Offer myself?

If she dared to say that, Nathael would probably think she was crazy.

Yes, Maggie also thought she was crazy.

But at this moment, she inexplicably felt an uncontrollable fondness for him. Yes, she liked him.

Maggie came back to her senses. She couldn’t help but say, “Mr. Harris, you’re too stingy. Even when delivering something, a thank you is required.”

Nathael curled his lips. His dark eyes stared at her while he said firmly, “You broke up with Joseph.”

He arrived just in time to see Maggie getting out of Joseph’s car.

He thought he was just humiliating himself, but he couldn’t help but stay.

He didn’t expect that Maggie and Joseph wouldn’t have a pleasant conversation. He could only guess the general idea because he was too far away to hear clearly. But no matter what, he could see Joseph’s face turning red with anger.

Maggie looked at him and slowly responded, “We were never together.”

Her answer made Nathael narrow his eyes. His gaze at her became more scrutinizing.

Maggie didn’t avoid it. She said directly, “I only feel gratitude and respect for Joseph. Of course, I might have liked him a bit.”

Her words successfully caused Nathael’s face, which had just softened a bit, to darken again.

However, he heard Maggie say frankly, “But that was when I was ignorant.”

Nathael chuckled and turned his head away, unconsciously smiling without even realizing it.

Her straightforwardness brought happiness to people, even though he didn’t know if she had another motive.

But he didn’t want to deny that he was in a good mood at the moment.

“I’m leaving, Mr. Harris. Good night,” Maggie spoke softly, not wanting to provide too much explanation.

She felt that her current relationship with Nathael was satisfactory. After all, the past had inflicted so many deep wounds on him. How could she dare to hope that a few words would regain his trust in her?

Now, if Nathael would exchange a few more words with her, she would already feel content.

Maggie turned to leave, but after only a few steps, she slowly stopped and looked back at the man standing by the car. She tentatively asked, “Mr. Harris, would you like to come upstairs for dinner?”

Nathael obviously didn’t expect her invitation.

He stared at Maggie with his dark eyes for a few seconds. Then, he responded in a deep voice, “Maggie, do you understand the implications of inviting a man to your home in the evening?”

Maggie curved her red lips and said seriously. “Just for dinner.”

She turned and went upstairs. Whether Nathael would come or not was beyond her control.

Nathael stared at her retreating figure for a few seconds. Even though he knew he shouldn’t, even thought he knew he might only end up disappointed again, he still couldn’t resist following her.

His legs were long, and his strides were big. In just a few steps, he had caught up with Maggie.

Maggie couldn’t help but smile, feeling good. She turned to him and said, “Mr. Harris, the moon is beautiful tonight.”

Her eyes were curved, and the joy that radiated from the corners of her eyes was vivid and bright. She was as beautiful as a blooming white flower in the dark night.

Nathael didn’t look up. His deep eyes stared at her, reflecting her image, more beautiful than the moonlight.

After Joseph drove away, he received a call from a friend.

“Joseph, bring your sister along for some fun!”

“I’ll come alone.” He was feeling particularly annoyed at the moment, so he agreed immediately.

However, the other person was persistent, “What about Maggie? I’ve praised her so much. A few friends are eager to meet her

Joseph responded directly, “She can’t make it today. She’s upset with me. Let’s wait until she calms down.”

The other person couldn’t help but feel a little disappointed.

After ending the call, Joseph increasingly felt that Maggie was just seeking attention by throwing a tantrum.

It wouldn’t be long before she would come back to him.

Not long after, Ronald called again, Joseph, have you taken Maggie home?”

“Yeah. Now, I’m going out with friends.”

“You should spend less time hanging out with those friends and pay more attention to her. It wasn’t easy. for her to establish contact with Nathael. We can’t let it all go to waste.”

Joseph remained silent and felt annoyed.

“You should talk to her again and try to find out about her relationship with Nathael.” Ronald was a very cautious person, and cautious people tend to be suspicious.

Joseph hung up the phone and frowned. After a while, he turned the car around and headed towards Maggie’s house.
