Chapter 856 The Devastated Vince
Chapter 856 The Devastated Vince
As Vanya revealed the truth, the heavy burden in her heart lifted. Over the years, she had come to acknowledge the countless wrongs she had committed and the sins she had accumulated. Although her body was ruined, the fact that she could escape with her life was an unexpected outcome. In the end, Chloe proved to be kind-hearted.
"Do you have any way to prove what you’re saying?" Lucas asked, rubbing his face that still stung from the slap.
"They can do a DNA test."
Lucas hesitated for a moment, realizing that a test would indeed provide clarity. He felt foolish for even asking such an obvious question.
"Find me a piece of paper and a pen. I'll draw the layout and structure of Duskfall."
Knowing Joseph would inevitably confront Duskfall in the future, it was crucial to be well-prepared. Familiarity with the enemy's layout could be the key to victory. However, she was uncertain whether the mechanisms within Duskfall had changed in the five years that had passed.
"Sure."
Fifteen minutes later, Vanya handed the sketched diagram to Lucas. Her eyes were filled with gratitude as she said, "Thank you."
Lucas cast a sidelong glance at her and stowed away the paper. "It's about time to board. Go ahead."
He could not completely trust this information. There was a possibility that Vanya had malicious intentions and had provided incorrect facts about the mechanisms. It was dangerous and he could not afford to be careless. After all, the dangers of Duskfall were far greater than he could imagine.
"Ladies and gentlemen, your flight is about to take off. Please take your seats promptly," the sweet voice of a flight attendant rang out.
With anticipation in her heart, Vanya boarded the plane and waved at Lucas. "Goodbye."

Once outside the airport, Lucas immediately called Joseph, but he remained unreachable. Lucas’ heart skipped a beat and a sense of unease began to creep over him as he remembered how hastily and anxiously Vince had left.
Lucas had an unwavering trust in Joseph. He believed that there was nothing in the world that could truly trouble Joseph. Joseph looked like a born ruler, always in complete control of everything. But when Vince called him, Lucas knew that something grave had happened to Joseph.
"I can't find Mr. Joseph. The scene is in chaos. There are two wrecked cars. I suspect Duskfall's people were trying to destroy evidence," Vince said, his rough voice choking as if he were a child. "Right now, we can only assume the worst as the site is at the edge of the cliff.”
Lucas' mouth hung open, his mind a blank slate. He wanted to console Vince, but he knew that there was no way one could survive falling off a cliff while injured, especially on a secluded mountain road where malicious acts could easily be committed.
After a long silence, Lucas finally regained his voice and asked, "Have you searched every inch of the mountain road? Could there be some areas you overlooked?"
"There's not a single trace of anyone here." Vince stood at the edge of the cliff, tears streaming down his face. "I'm useless. I failed to protect Mr. Joseph."
His hair was tousled by the wind and he felt an urge to jump down. If he could not protect Joseph, what was the point of living? This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.
"We should focus on positive possibilities. Mr. Joseph is lucky and resilient. Maybe he's just badly injured and hiding."
"Yes... You're right…" Vince sniffled, trying to hold his tears back. "I've already informed Mr. Callum about the situation. He advised you to make arrangements within the company and not let outsiders detect anything."
"I understand. I'll head back to the company now."
Lucas calmed himself and headed back to Fairlight. Upon his return, he was greeted by two familiar faces that had not been seen in years. Preston and Jonathan were sitting boldly in the CEO's office.
They were shouting at the finance director. "Give us 1.5 million dollars now! We need it!"
