Chapter 774 A Call From Stephen (Part Three)

Intent on adding salt to injury, Cassie continued to speak ill of Violet, "My cousin is hot, you know, Greg.

During his time abroad, he had more than his fare share of women, which I can tell you for a fact.

Wherever he goes, women can't just stop drooling over him. How many women do you think would

resist such a handsome young man, loaded with tons of money. And now he is back in town, single and

ready to mingle. It is only unfair on you that your very own Violet finds him irresistible too. Maybe, she's

fallen for his hot looks, while you think money will keep her for you. Look at this picture, how happy she

was. They were smiling like teenagers in love!"

Although Greg's mind was in a tangle, he clearly heard Cassie's words. Increasingly, he believed in her

words.

When Cassie noticed that Greg was silent, she added, "Greg, I swear. What I've told you is nothing but

the whole truth. But if you still don't believe me, you can find out for yourself from the waiters at the

restaurant. I can give you the address."

Before Cassie ended her words, Greg left in a hurry.

Seeing that Greg stalked out in a huff, Cassie couldn't feel happier.

"Violet, it's over for you," said Cassie in high spirits.

Hosting Francis and Violet in his office, Roger was happy with how productive their business talk had NôvelDrama.Org (C) content.

turned.

"Thank you so much, Violet, for inviting Mr. Francis here for me," said a greatly impressed Roger.

"It is my pleasure, Mr. Roger," said Violet humbly. She only wanted to help Roger, asking for nothing in

return. She helped him to repay his kindness. The happiness in her life right now was partly thanks to

Greg being there for her. But it wasn't lost on her that at one point, Roger had got her back. Forever,

she felt indebted to Roger for his kindness.

"Mr. Roger, is Violet always so humble?" Francis asked with a grin.

"Yes, Violet is a nice girl. When she worked in our company, she was the most diligent. No matter how

difficult and tiring the work was, she was willing to do it," Roger said, praising Violet.

"Is that so? She is really nice," said Francis. From Roger's praises, Francis could read obvious respect

and admiration for Violet. It surprised him that Violet, such an ordinary girl, could earn the love and

favour of several outstanding men, including Greg - her husband and now Roger, who seemed all

praises for this simple girl.

The way both men now overflowed with praises made Violet feel a little awkward. Actually, she found it

boring. 'Did they think she was some narcissistic, self-indulgent bimbo?' she wondered.

"Well, just go on with your conversation, gentlemen. I'll go ask the waitstaff to prepare three cups of

coffee for us," Violet excused herself. Then she stood up and left.

Seeing that Violet left the office, Francis asked Roger without beating around the bush, "Did you once

love her?"

Caught by surprise, Roger stared at Francis, he knew that he could hide no secret from Francis.

"I also love her now. She is beautiful and kind," said Roger. He didn't try to deny the fact that he loved

Violet.

"I guess when Greg was abroad, you had tried to woo her. Am I right?" asked Francis. He had recalled

something just now. And from those events, he guessed that it was when Greg was abroad, Roger got

the chance to stay with Violet. Most likely, that was why Violet kept trying to help Roger in return.

"Yes, but I didn't know that she loved Greg until I got injured and got treatment in the hospital. That was

when I discovered that she and Greg had a thing for each other. They proved that they were

inseparable during that time," said Roger.

Dumbfounded, Francis didn't say a word, he simply sat, waiting for what Roger would say next.

"In that accident, I got injured because I tried to protect Violet. Coincidentally, it was the same accident,

through which Violet would meet Greg again. Maybe at that time, Greg was determined to let Violet

stay with him forever," said Roger. After he left the hospital, a lot of things crossed his mind, and he

began to understand Violet better. But Roger didn't get a chance to tell her what he felt. Instead, he

kept his secrets, determined to play his cards close to the chest. Then he began to reminisce things

from the past in the free time while he recuperated.

"If you love someone, would you force her to stay with you?" Francis suddenly asked. He was also lost

in thought.

"That depends. For example, Violet has her husband and her own family, then I could only wish her

happiness," said Roger.

In agreement, Francis chipped in, "My father once told me that loving someone doesn't mean that you

have to possess her. You can also help her to live a happy life and wish her happiness, and that's

enough."

Without thinking much, Roger nodded. "Yes, once the one we love live a happy life, nothing more we

should wish for. We are happy because of her happiness, right?" he said.

At that moment, they were interrupted by, Francis's phone ringing.

Trying to shake himself from the reverie over violet, Francis cleared his voice and took out the phone.

The call was from Stephen.

"Speak of the devil! I just talked about my Dad, then he is calling me," said Francis with a shrug as he

answered the call.

"Hello, Dad," Francis said.

"What's wrong with you? What makes you want to invest in GR Group? Have you made an assets

evaluation of the company? Are you sure, that's a safe place to put your money?" The voice sounded

familiar. It was obvious that Stephen was a bit angry and worried.

"If I fail, you'd still be the boss. You can support me. Even if our company goes bankrupt, we'll stay put

in this city. Why are you so worried? Don't you believe me? I have done my homework, and I have no

doubts about which company is a good bet for our investment." There was barely any respect in the

way Francis talked to his old man.

Roger sitting beside was surprised by that lack of deference even on phone.

"Don't waste my money," Stephen warned.

"Okay, I know, Dad. You are well-informed. I am making an assets budget of GR Group now. I will talk

to you later. Bye, Dad," Francis said, his voice apparently gruff as he hung up quickly.
