I Once Married You (Harper and Benjamin)

Chapter 579

Chapter 579 Alarm

Harper subconsciously stiffened. She looked at Paul, her expression slightly faltering, then said, "Grandpa, why are you asking like this?"

"Harper, just tell me the truth. Is this what you're thinking?"

Paul was very concerned about this issue.

Harper smiled faintly, "No, Grandpa. I'm not thinking like that."

"Really?"

Paul didn't quite believe it.

"When have I ever lied to you?" Harper asked.

Paul's serious expression relaxed a bit after hearing this. He sighed and said softly, "This time, indeed, you've been wronged. I know he went too far. Rest assured, I will make it right for you."

"Grandpa, don't worry about it, and don't ask him about it anymore. You don't need to ask for any promises or assurances from him either. Let's just let this matter pass."

Harper's attitude was somewhat serious, and Paul remained silent for a long time after hearing it.

Harper's insistence eventually made Paul nod in agreement.

He didn't ask Benjamin to apologize to Harper anymore, nor did he get angry at Benjamin for this matter.

Let's just let this matter pass with time.

Harper had lunch at the Martin Manor, then spent some time playing chess with Paul. Afterward, Paul brought up, "Harper, your birthday is coming up. This year, you're the biggest contributor to the Martin family. How do you want to celebrate? Let me arrange it for you personally."

"Grandpa, wouldn't that be inappropriate? You're the elder, I'm the younger. How can I let you arrange it for me? I don't have any special requests, just having a meal together would be fine," Harper replied.

Eleanor's surgery was scheduled around her birthday, so she didn't have much energy to focus on her birthday. She wasn't interested in having a big celebration; she just wanted a simple meal.

But Paul insisted, "How can that be?

This is your first birthday while pregnant, and also your last birthday as a girl Your next birthday, you'll be a mother, and the responsibilities will be even heavier. So, we must celebrate properly this year."

Paul was determined to celebrate Harper's birthday, and Lily shared the same sentiment. Lily said, "Harper, if you don't want Grandpa to worry about arranging it, then let me do it. I'm particularly interested in this, and I won't get tired. I'll have the staff take care of it, but I mainly want to personally oversee the arrangements. You're not allowed to refuse me. Otherwise, I'll be bored to death at home."

Scott also agreed, so it was ultimately decided that Lily should take full responsibility for planning Harper's birthday.

Although Harper didn't refuse again, she expressed multiple times, "Mom, don't make it too complicated and cumbersome. Keep it simple, okay?"Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.

Lily nodded and assured her, "Don't worry, leave it to me. I won't let you down."

Harper felt embarrassed by Lily's words, but Lily walked over to her and comforted her, saying, "We're family, Harper. I hope you never feel embarrassed. Family should be open and honest with each other, no need to be polite."

"Thank you, Mom and Dad. I'm most grateful to Grandpa."

Harper said, showing a respectful smile.

Although Benjamin wasn't there for this meal, they still enjoyed it and had a harmonious time.

After dinner, Lily had the driver take Harper back to her apartment.

It was nap time, and she didn't want to disturb Annie, so she returned to her own place, took a shower, and lay down to rest.

However, she couldn't sleep; her mind was filled with Benjamin's coldness at the Martin Manor.

Apart from his questioning, they had no interaction at all.

It felt like they were even more distant than strangers.

Harper didn't understand why they had become like this.
