Chapter 873: Reluctant to Return to Viteto
While Yanis was on her way to buy groceries with Reed, she decided to make a phone call to Zane.
The call was quickly answered on the other end, "Yanis?"
"Do you have time tonight?" Yanis asked directly.
Zane replied, "I have a meeting with Allan tonight, should be done around 7. What's up?"
"I just came over to Mitch's place. His mom got discharged from the hospital, and they invited you for
dinner tonight. I wanted to check if you're available, but if you're busy, it's fine," Yanis explained.
After listening to Yanis, Zane stayed silent for a few seconds and then said, "I'll come over later, but it
might be a bit late."
"Aren't you supposed to have a talk with Allan?" Yanis asked.
"Let me come earlier, and I'll join you after it's over," Zane whispered.
Upon hearing Zane's response, Yanis agreed, "Alright, come over after you're done."
After hanging up the phone, Yanis turned to Reed and asked, "Have you picked out everything?"
Reed looked at Yanis and replied, "Yanis, what do you like to eat?"
"Anything is fine. I'm not picky," Yanis responded.
"What about Mr. Lawrence? What does he like to eat? I'm not sure if he'll be accustomed to my mom's
cooking," Reed said while carefully selecting fresh vegetables and talking to Yanis.
Yanis smiled and said, "He's fine with anything. He's not a picky eater."
In general, Zane wasn't too particular about food. He could eat almost anything, but if he didn't like
something, he would eat less of it or avoid it altogether.
"That's good. I was just worried that Mr. Lawrence might not like my mom's cooking, and he wouldn't Text © owned by NôvelDrama.Org.
feel comfortable saying anything," Reed expressed his concerns.
"Don't worry, it'll be fine," Yanis reassured.
After buying the groceries, they also picked up a few other things before heading to the checkout
counter.
"Reed, when you called me earlier, did you want to talk about something?" Yanis asked.
Reed nodded in response to Yanis' question and said softly, "Yanis, I want you to persuade my mom.
Can you convince her to stay in Manches City? Or if she doesn't want to, can we go back to Viteto
together? We don't want to be separated from her."
"Did your mom tell you why she wants to go back?" Yanis inquired.
Reed shook his head, "No."
"Well, if she wants to go back, it's probably because she feels more comfortable with the life back
home and finds it inconvenient here," Yanis explained. She decided not to mention Marnon's condition
to Reed, thinking it would be best for Marnon to talk to him personally.
Reed let out a sigh, "Yanis, I also have my own selfish reasons. I want to stay in Manches City
because..."
"Because of Allan?" Yanis interjected.
Reed didn't argue with Yanis's straightforward statement and simply nodded, "He said he wants to live
a good life here and take care of my mom. It's not easy for him to let go of the past and start fresh here.
So, I don't want to tell him that we're going back."
"Do you think if you go back to Viteto, Allan would come with you?" Yanis asked.
"If we go back to Viteto, he would definitely come with us," Reed affirmed
.
"Reed, Allan is an adult, and he makes decisions based on what he thinks is right. Even if you go back
to Viteto and he wants to go with you, I don't see anything wrong with it," Yanis advised.
After listening to Yanis, Reed hesitated for a moment and then said, "Yanis, apart from that reason, I
just don't want to go back to Viteto."
Yanis looked at Reed and asked, "Why not?"
"Because I don't want to go back to Viteto. There are too many bad memories there," Yanis said,
unsure of what else to say when she heard Reed's words.
Coincidentally, Reed's phone started ringing at that moment.
"Go ahead and take the call, I'll wait in line," Yanis said, pushing the shopping cart and allowing Reed
to answer the phone.
It was a call from Mitch.
"Call Allan and ask him to come over for dinner tonight," Mitch's voice came through the phone.
Reed hesitated upon hearing Mitch's words. "But what about Mom... will she get upset?"
"It was your mom who asked me to call you. Just give Allan a call first," Mitch said before hanging up
the phone.
After Mitch's call ended, Reed stood still for a moment, lost in thought, before dialing the number.
Allan picked up the call almost instantly. "Reed, what's up?"
"Do you have time tonight? My mom wants you to come over for dinner," Reed said.
After hearing Reed's words, Allan hesitated for a few seconds. "Tonight?"
"If you're busy, I can tell my mom to plan for another day..." Reed started saying.
"No need, I'll come tonight," Allan interrupted before Reed could finish speaking.
Upon hearing Allan's response, Reed whispered, "If my mom says anything, just... just bear with it,
okay?"
"Don't worry, I have some things to take care of first, but once I'm done, I'll let you know when I'm on
my way," Allan assured.
Reed responded, "Okay, take your time then."
Meanwhile, at the Lawrence Group...
After ending the call with Reed, Allan looked at Zane and asked, "Should we postpone our matter for
another day?"
Zane looked back at him and said, "You want to go to the Miller family's place tonight?"
Allan was slightly shocked and asked, "How did you know?"
"I'm also going over tonight. We can talk on the way," Zane said, tidying up the things on the table. He
then turned to Albi, who was standing nearby, and said, "You can go back first. I'll drive there myself."
Albi acknowledged, "Alright."
Once Albi left, Zane looked at Allan and remarked, "First time visiting, and you're not bringing
anything?"
Allan rubbed his hands together and admitted, "To be honest, I'm a bit nervous."
Upon hearing Allan's words, Zane looked at him and said, "Nervous? After you managed to win her
heart as soon as she turned eighteen, now you're nervous?"
"It's not that. Can you watch your words? What do you mean by 'win'?," Allan replied, feeling somewhat
indignant as he stared at Zane.
Zane calmly stated, "Wasn't it winning her over?"
Allan scoffed, "Not everyone is like you. I don't know what you said to make Yanis completely devoted
to you."
Zane glanced at Allan nonchalantly and said, "Same goes for you."
Allan raised an eyebrow and stood up. "Alright, let's go."
