Chapter 871: Helping Her Is Out of Friendship, Not Duty
Yanis looked at Bonnie warily. "What's up?"
"Come here, I need to tell you something," Bonnie whispered.
Yanis hesitated for a moment before walking over to Bonnie.
As Yanis approached, Bonnie pointed at her neck. "Mr. Lawrence got a bit too drunk last night."
Upon hearing Bonnie's words, Yanis instinctively touched her neck. "Is it obvious?"
Bonnie replied, "Why don't you go look in the mirror inside?"
Saying that, Bonnie circled around Yanis. "Sis, didn't you check yourself in the mirror before leaving the
house?"
"I did," Yanis responded.
"Then how did you miss such a big strawberry?" Bonnie asked.
Yanis hadn't really noticed it. After hearing Bonnie's words, Yanis turned and walked to a nearby
counter, grabbing a mirror from the top and looking at it.
When Yanis saw the mark on her neck, she was dumbfounded. She had definitely looked in the mirror
when she woke up and got ready, but how did she miss it?
She had confidently paraded in front of others earlier.
Bonnie looked at Yanis, whose face had turned red, and stifled a laugh. "As long as you don't feel
embarrassed, it's others who will be."
Yanis ignored Bonnie and walked over to her side to find a scarf to cover it up.
"Yanis, by doing this, it's as if you have three hundred silver coins buried here."
Upon hearing Bonnie's words, Yanis paused in the act of covering herself, turned to look at Bonnie, and
asked, "Are you really planning to have a falling out with me today?"
Bonnie sighed, stepped forward, took the scarf from Yanis' hand, and helped her tie it around her neck.
"There, now you can't see anything."
Yanis glanced at herself in the mirror. The scarf did cover the mark on her neck, but it wasn't quite
suitable to wear a scarf in such hot weather.
Yanis stood in front of the mirror for a few seconds and then took off the scarf. "You're right. As long as
I'm not embarrassed, it's others who should be."
Bonnie agreed, "Exactly, you're right."
Yanis glared at Bonnie, then turned and grabbed a glass of water from the side. "I wonder if Nancy
contacted Lawyer Phillips."
Bonnie looked at Yanis and said, "You're so concerned about Nancy, but she doesn't have the same
goodwill towards you."
"I just think the child is innocent."
"Well, they willingly got themselves into this mess. If anyone is to blame, it's Nancy for not seeing
through that scumbag's false affection and being blinded by it," Bonnie whispered.
Yanis placed the glass of water aside. "Blaming anyone doesn't seem appropriate in this situation."
"You've already done a lot to help her. Considering what she's done before, it's out of friendship, not
duty," Bonnie said.
Yanis nodded at Bonnie's words. "That's true. I hope she'll be fine."
Just as they were talking, Yanis' phone rang.
It was Nancy calling.
Bonnie was standing close to Yanis and naturally saw the caller ID. "Speak of the devil, and the devil
appears."
Yanis answered the call. "Nancy?"
"Yanis, thank you. I talked to Lawyer Phillips," Nancy said on the other end of the line.
Yanis asked, "What did Lawyer Phillips say?"
"The child is still young. As long as I can find enough evidence of
Andrew's infidelity, I can sue him and gain custody of our child," Nancy explained.
Yanis responded with relief, "That's good. After you're discharged, talk to Lawyer Phillips about this
matter."
Nancy thanked her, "Yanis, thank you."
"It's nothing. Take care of yourself and recover well. Only then will you have the strength to fight for
what you want," Yanis advised.
After chatting with Nancy for a while, Yanis hung up the phone.
As soon as the call ended, Yanis looked up and met Bonnie's scrutinizing gaze. "What's wrong?"
Bonnie shook her head. "I just realized how kindhearted you are, Yanis. If I were a man, I would
definitely marry you."
Yanis raised an eyebrow, not knowing how to respond.
"What's wrong? If I were a man, I would be even more handsome and wealthy than Mr. Lawrence. I
would only have eyes for you. Isn't that good?" Bonnie teased.
Yanis replied softly, "With your personality, even if you were a man, you would attract a whole train of
women following you. I wouldn't stand a chance."
After hearing Yanis' response, Bonnie smirked. "So, in your eyes, I'm just a heartless playboy?"
Yanis looked at her. "What else would you be? Are you really a devoted and faithful man?"
Bonnie took a deep breath. "Let's end our friendship!"
"Boss, Yanis, it's time for lunch!" Linda's voice interrupted them.
Yanis acknowledged her and walked up to Bonnie, linking her arm with hers. "Come on, let's eat. After
lunch, we can end our friendship if you want."
Bonnie snorted lightly, then suddenly remembered something and said, "Oh, by the way, I don't think I
told you something."
"What is it?" Yanis asked.
Bonnie lowered her voice. "Linda told me that Mr. Baxter came to find you this morning."
Yanis' steps faltered upon hearing Bonnie's words. "Ivan's father?"
Bonnie nodded. "Yes, who else do you think Mr. Baxter could be looking for?"
With that, Bonnie looked at Yanis and asked, "Why do you think he came to see you?"
Yanis shook her head. "No matter why he came to see me, I'm not interested."
Bonnie pondered for a moment and said softly, "I think he came because of her. Otherwise, why would
Mr. Baxter look for you?"
"I'm not interested," Yanis repeated.
Bonnie had wanted to say something more, but she swallowed her words.
After finishing lunch, Yanis received a call from Reed and drove over to his place. This text is property of Nô/velD/rama.Org.
When she arrived at the door, she coincidentally saw Mitch coming out from inside.
"Yanis, why are you here?" Mitch seemed surprised to see Yanis.
"I'm here to see Reed," Yanis replied. "Didn't you go to work today?"
Mitch said, "I took a leave of absence. I'm planning to go back to Viteto for a couple of days."
Upon hearing Mitch's words, Yanis furrowed her brows slightly. "Why do you suddenly want to go back
to Viteto? Is there something wrong?"
Mitch whispered, "I want to visit my dad. My mom said she's been dreaming about my dad every night
and wants to see him. She asked me to go back and take a look."
After listening to Mitch, Yanis nodded. "When are you leaving?"
"Tomorrow afternoon, I guess," Mitch replied.
