His Promise: The Mafia’s Babies

Chapter 111

Chapter 111

Chapter 111

“Siena, your daddy, is blowing up my phone again-he just can’t take a hint.” I hissed and turned off my phone, so I wouldn’t have to look at the missed phone calls.

“It took you long enough!” Dario smiled from a distance and held a bouquet of roses in his hands.

“I’m sorry.” I apologized as I pushed the stroller and made my way toward him. “I’m not used to people showing up on time.”

“That must mean Christian keeps you waiting, but fortunately for you, I’m not Christian,” Dario spoke as he handed me the roses. “You bought me roses? No one ever bought me roses.” I awkwardly laughed.

Even though I promised myself not to think about him, my mind went back to Christian. He never bought me roses, and I never asked for them. He would waste his money instead to buy me the most expensive gifts.

“I even brought one for your daughter.” He smiled and pulled out a toy rose. “I thought she might eat it, so.” He shrugged and handed her the rose. “She will still eat it, but the effort is nice.”

“Is she laughing?” I asked after hearing her giggles. Dario smirked and raised his head to look at me. “Of course, she’s laughing. She’s in my presence.”

“You’re unbelievable.” I laughed at his serious reaction. It was weird to explain, but it didn’t feel like I was talking to a stranger. I hated meeting new people, and I was an awkward person-but Dario and I clicked from the moment we met.

“So what do you have planned for us today.” Dario wondered. “Well.” I started. The funny thing was that I hadn’t even planned a thing and just went along with everything because he asked me to. “I thought

we could take a walk so I can show you around, eat something-and then I can introduce you to my best. friend.”

“Really? I’m excited to meet your best friend. Dario smiled. “Well.” I sighed. “He used to talk just as much as you, but considering the circumstances…”

“Vincenzo Garcia?” Dario asked with a guilty look on his face. “This is not a sad conversation.” I laughed. and pushed his shoulder. “I’m glad it isn’t. I can’t stay serious for too long.” Dario laughed and wrapped his arm around my shoulder. “Is this okay with you?”

I flinched for a second and needed some time to get used to his touch. The only man other than my family who was allowed to do that was Christian. At least, that’s what I made myself believe-because, unlike him, I was loyal.

“This is fine,” I spoke as I turned my face towards him and returned the smile. “I have to say. You look even more beautiful from up close.” Dario flirted. I hadn’t realized how close our faces were until he made that comment, and I didn’t know how fast to turn my head. “We should go.”

Dario and I took a nice walk around the city, and I had no bad word to say about him. Perhaps if Christian took the chance to get to know him, he wouldn’t hate him that much, and the two might even get along. “You know, you remind me of Christian’s cousins.” I told him.

Dario was a gentleman like Johnny and had a playful personality like Luca.

“First a Garcia, and now I remind you of a Lamberti?” Dario scrunched up his nose while I laughed at his reaction. “Don’t be like that. My daughter is a Lamberti.”

“Oh, no.” He gasped and leaned over the stroller to tickle Siena, “I wasn’t talking about you. You’re just as sweet as your mommy.”

“She really likes you!” I spoke after hearing her giggles. “She only laughs with her family. She’s actually not a fun baby at all-I just say so because she’s my baby.”

“Kind of like Christian?” Dario commented while I gave him a confused look. “Christian is not a good fiancé at all. You just say so because he’s your fiancé. Dario smirked while I rolled my eyes.

His words were meant to be a joke, but he was right. Christian was not the good fiancé I made him out to be, but I always gave him a pass. There was nothing to say about his parenting skills because Christian was an amazing father, and I had nothing to complain about, but in terms of being a fiancé, he still had a lot to

learn.

“Why are you with him? I mean, I know about your past so that we can skip that part-but how did the two of you get together?” Dario wondered. It was nice to know that the news about my past had even reached the other side of the country. Nôvel/Dr(a)ma.Org - Content owner.

“I’m with him because I fell in love with him.” I smiled as I thought about the past. “It’s almost like the story of beauty and the beast. He seemed unapproachable at first-but we somehow ended up falling in love with each other-”

“And he changed back into a prince?” Dario scoffed. “I highly doubt that.”

“Serena, let’s go.” He mimicked Christian’s tone while I laughed at his spot-on impression. He was right. Christian was far from the prince and pretty close to the beast. Only a beast would cheat on a pregnant woman, so why was I even defending him?

“Serena, did you fart?” Dario chuckled. “What, me? No!” I spoke embarrassed and looked at Siena. “I think it’s her. She poops so much I became immune to the smell.”

Dario shrugged his shoulders and leaned forward. “Blaming the baby for your actions?” He spoke as he moved his nose closer to Siena’s diaper. “Never mind, it really is her.”

“I told you it wasn’t me. You’re so stupid.” I laughed out loud. “My bad,” Dario spoke and locked his hand with mine. “Is this okay, or is Christian going to kill me?”

“It’s fine, but I have to push the stroller,” I mentioned. A few days ago, I would’ve cut off his hand, but after what Christian had done-something like this didn’t faze me. “We can push it together.” He spoke as he squeezed my hand.

Together we pushed the stroller until we were at a nearby park where I could change Siena’s diaper. “Let me take care of that.” Dario smiled and wrapped his hand around my wrist to stop me. “Do you even know how to change a diaper?” I chuckled at Dario, who had a serious look on his face.

“I love babies. I know how to change a diaper-thank you.” He smirked as he grabbed the diaper and the wipes from my hand. I watched him like a hawk while he changed Siena’s diaper and was surprised by the results. He actually knew what he was doing.

“All done!” He spoke to Siena, who babbled back. “What is she saying?” Dario frowned and looked at me. “She’s a baby. How would I know?” I shrugged my shoulders. Only one person spoke baby language and translated everything Siena said, and that person was Christian.

I just couldn’t stop thinking of him.

“You’re gorgeous. Too bad you don’t have a twin sister, I might just have to go for your brother.” Dario

complimented me. His compliments were nice, but it felt wrong, and I didn’t know how to take them. “Thanks.” I smiled. “I’ll tell Beau that you’re interested.”

“So, how do you like this town?” I asked as he took Siena in his arms again.

“I’ve seen some interesting stuff. I like it.” Dario spoke. “Now tell me, what’s Christian

up

I had prepared myself for this to happen and knew they had some weird rivalry going on, but I was not ready to spend my entire day talking about Christian as if thinking about him wasn’t bad enough already. “He’s been busy with a lot of projects, right?”

I took a deep breath and held back my words to satisfy him. “Yes.” I nodded my head and hoped for the conversation to end as soon as possible. “Do you know what kind of projects or—”

“We don’t discuss that, and I don’t really care.” I immediately stopped him from asking. He was starting to look like the other girls, and we had such a great time-but somehow, everything led back to Christian Whenever someone had a conversation with me, it led back to Christian, and I slowly got sick of it.

“That’s really good.” Dario smiled and finally got the hint. “Why are you so interested in Christian?” I asked him. “I really like you, but he’s still my fiancé, and I won’t turn against him-just making it clear.”

“No, I know I’m just curious,” Dario smirked. “He’s an idiot who doesn’t realize how good he has it, but the two of you are still together-that’s great.” He shrugged his shoulders. “How would you know?” I chuckled.

Dario was right. Christian was an idiot who did not realize how far I was willing to go for him. He was a liar, a cheater-but even all of that couldn’t stop the amount of love I had for him, and only I was allowed. to talk about him that way.

“Anyway, if you planned on getting more information so you can work on your evil plan to bring him down, which is obviously not going to work because it’s Christian-then you shouldn’t have asked me,

but his personal assistant instead.” I leaned back and shrugged my shoulders while Dario had a startled look on his face.

“W-what?” He muttered. “I told you I don’t care about whatever all of you are doing-as long as all of you keep Siena and me out of it, I don’t care. I’m just here to live a quiet life.” I yawned.

“I see.” Dario nodded his head. “You don’t have any issues with the personal assistant? The two of you are good?”

“Of course we are. She has been here for four months-and she never caused any trouble.” I praised Gina. At the moment, she was probably the only one who kept him from turning into a mess.

“Four months? That’s a short time-I would’ve expected at least six.” Dario eyed me suspiciously as I went into deep thoughts. “No, four-we met her for the first time at the hospital, after I gave birth to Siena.”

“Interesting Dario chuckled to himself while I gave myself an imaginary facepalm. “I really need to stop talking about him-anyway, you’re a nice guy, and I like your presence, but you’re not getting anything

out of me.”

“Very clear.” Dario smiled. “I already know everything I have to know.”

“I didn’t know you were a wizard.” I joked as I prepared Siena’s bottle. Despite the questions about Christian and the clear intentions behind them, being with Dario felt nice and comfortable. “I can give it to her.” Dario offered and grabbed Siena from my hands. “She really looks like you. It’s funny.”

“It is.” I sighed. “I waited for months-just to push out another version of myself. It’s a bit sarl.”

“I think it’s beautiful, and so is Siena,” Dario spoke and stared at her as he gave her the bottle. “Now I also want a baby. Can’t we just make another one?”

“We can make one right now.” I joked and pointed to the dumpster behind him. Dario gave me a disgusted look and shook his head. “You’re even a bit too wild for me.”

“You’re the one encouraging it,” I spoke as I stared into his eyes. It felt nice to joke around freely, without having to worry about him getting any mood swings or saying the wrong things. We matched so well, it almost seemed unbelievable. “Serena, you seem like a good person with a good heart, and people might take you for granted sometimes. I have something to say to you, but I’ll say it at the end of the day.”

“Just say it now. I hate waiting.” I complained and rolled my eyes, but Dario shook his head. “We should visit your friend first. I’ll tell you after that-I promise, but I don’t want to ruin your day.” He sighed.

I tried to read the expression on his face, but he still had the same kind smile as usual. “Okay, if that’s what you want.” I giggled and grabbed Siena from his hands. “She fell asleep in your arms, cute.” I pouted and kissed her cheek before I smiled at Dario.

“Now, let’s go and visit my friend-so you can tell me this ‘news’ of yours later on.”
