Chapter 17 Questions
"Yes.But maybe I'm overthinking. After all, you two have just divorced. How could she be with another man so soon?"
Darren glanced at her, and Sierra immediately stopped talking.
The three walked to the entrance where the driver was waiting in the car.
Sierra handed Bonita to the driver.
Just as she was about to get into the car, Darren waved his hand at the driver.
"Drop Miss Brooks at her place first."
"Yes, sir." Sierra froze.
She had planned on spending more time with Darren and was unhappy to know that he wanted her to leave.
"Darren!"
Sierra held his hand.
"Anything else?"
Sierra lowered her head, and her shoulders trembled.
When she looked up again, her eyes were red and welled up with tears.
"I'm sorry.I know you are still mad at me.If it weren't for me, you wouldn't have divorced in the first place. It's all my fault..."
"It has nothing to do with you.Don't blame yourself.Stop worrying about other things and concentrate on giving birth to the baby." Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.
Although Darren was still cold, he spoke softly.
With that, he pulled out his hand from her hold.
Sierra gnashed her teeth as anger surged through her veins. If it weren't for Claire, Darren wouldn't have found out about the necklace.
If Darren doubted her explanation, he would send his men to investigate. If he found out the truth, it would only complicate things further.
Sierra clenched her fists as she thought about how things had become out of control.
Claire was the reason for all her problems.
Sierra's hatred for her intensified. She felt the photos she had clicked earlier were not enough. She needed more evidence against Claire.иσνєℓєвσσк.¢σмShe wanted to completely ruin Claire's reputation.
In the Sampson family's house, Darren asked the maid to take Bonita to her room and walked to the living room.
As soon as he walked to the door, he heard the clattering noise of the bowls.
"What's this? God, this lobster soup tastes like shit!" Darren stopped.
"I pay you such a high salary. How dare you fool me by making such a horrible dish? Do you want me to fire you?" Elora shouted.
"Please calm down, ma'am," the chef said in a trembling voice.
"Claire was the one making lobster soup for you before. It will obviously taste different..."
Darren was taken aback. He quickly walked into the living room and looked at the chef and back at his mother.
"Claire cooked before? There are so many chefs at home. Why did you ask her to cook? What were you all doing?"
The atmosphere in the living room grew tense as soon as Darren arrived. The chef cast a nervous look at Elora.
"Darren, you are back."
Elora walked up to Darren and smiled concernedly.
"Why didn't you tell me that you'd come home today?"
Darren ignored his mother and continued to question the chef.
"Didn't you hear my questions?"
The chef's face turned pale. She glanced at Elora and lowered her head.
Elora cursed in her heart.
Darren looked at his mother. He wasn't willing to give up until he got the answers.
Elora's face darkened.
"All she did was cook. She married into the Sampson family, so she had to serve me.What's the big deal?"
Darren clenched his fists and took a deep breath. He rarely stayed at home and never cared about his family's affairs. He had no idea about the hardship Claire had endured at home.
Obviously, Elora took what she did for granted. He slowly looked at the servants around him.
Everyone lowered their heads when they met his gaze.
Darren couldn't help but wonder what other things he didn't know about his family.
"Mom, have you always treated Claire as a maid?"
