Chapter 966
Adrian jogged over with a grin, "Hey, Sis! What brings you here? Come to see Dad?"
"Yeah, let's go together!" Flora replied with a chuckle.
The two of them made their way to the study, and Adrian casually pushed the door open.
Karter was at his desk, absorbed in documents. The moment he heard them, he looked up, his face breaking into a warm smile when he saw Flora. "Flora."
Then his eyes fell on Adrian, and the smile faded. "What are you doing here?" he asked, a hint of disapproval in his voice.
Adrian was taken aback. Seriously, was that any way to greet your own son?
"Fine, I'll head out," Adrian muttered, feeling a bit miffed.
"Hold on," Karter waved him off. "This actually involves you too."
Picking up a file from the desk, Karter handed it to Flora. "Flora, you're probably aware that the Reyes family has held its place among the top families for years, mainly because of our pharmaceutical chain. It's the backbone of Lone Island's medical economy." "I'm passing this chain to you now," Karter said earnestly. "It's only right; your father built this, and it belongs to you. I've sorted out all the paperwork, just need your signature."
Flora was caught off guard. She hadn't expected Karter to bring this up.
By doing this, Karter was essentially putting the entire Reyes family in her hands.
"I don't want the pharmaceutical chain. Give it to Adrian," she said calmly, fishing out a piece of milk candy from her pocket.
Connor always tucked a variety of candies into her pockets. Each one was different, like a little surprise, and they were all her favorites.
Adrian thought she was just being
modest. "Sis, come on, just take it! I won't overthink it. I'd be thrilled if the pharmaceutical chain was under your care; you'd make it thrive!¶f it were up to me, I'd probably crash it in no time!"
Karter was annoyed by Adrian's self-deprecating comments but held back, keeping it together for Flora's sake.
"Flora, please accept it. Without you, the Reyes family would've crumbled ages ago."
It was Flora's decisive actions that
had toppled the Jones family, leading to their downfall and imprisonment, while elevating the Reyes family to become the heart of Racing Club 257.
"Want some candy?" Flora asked, holding out two pieces of milk candy with a straight face.
Karter shook his head. "No, thanks."
They were in the middle of a serious discussion, and Flora was offering candy.
"Me neither, Sis," Adrian said, scratching his head.
"Alright." Flora tucked the candy back into her bag. "As for the pharmaceutical chain, I really don't want it. Hand it over to Adrian."
She didn't have the bandwidth for it. Club 257 was run by Crimson; she was just the face. Taking on the pharmaceutical chain wasn't an option.
"But..." Karter started, still wanting Flora to take it. It was hers by right.
Before he could continue, Flora spoke up again.
"But, Adrian did have a point."
Adrian scratched his head, surprised. Did he actually say something sensible?
Flora looked at him and said, "Adrian, your skills need sharpening, and your laid-back attitude won't cut it. You need a real challenge. Let's send you to Empire Base for some hands-on experience. Come back in a year."
