Chapter 1633 Bait It Out
Chapter 1633 Bait It Out
“Who was it?”
“Cara!” Nicole was stunned as soon as Laurence said that the caller was Cara. She wanted to ask
about what Cara said but then stopped herself to respect Laurence’s privacy.
However, Laurence said without Nicole having to ask. He explained, “Cara asked to meet with me at
eleven o’clock tomorrow morning at Rose Café.”
Nicole frowned gently. It was Zayn’s wedding tomorrow and a national celebration. Why did Cara ask to
meet Laurence at such a time?
“Do you want me to go with you?” Nicole asked.
“Okay.” Laurance’s agreement surprised Nicole.
Laurence seemed to notice Nicole’s surprise and said in resignation, “Although I kept convincing myself
that Cara must have her reasons for doing these, I had also heard about the horrific manner in which
the maid died. This disillusioned me.”
“Do you suspect that Cara was behind these?” Nicole wanted to hear what Laurence’s thoughts was.
Laurence looked into the distance and then said after a long pause, “I don’t know.” He felt that it was
better that he said this.
Nicole knew how he felt for Cara. She heaved a sigh and then said, “Soon everything would be out in
the open. Perhaps you’ll know tomorrow.”
“Hopefully. I hope that tomorrow will pass uneventfully.” This was everyone’s wish.
Nicole left Laurence’s room and returned home.
She felt lonely as Samuel was not home. Nicole pondered and felt that something was amiss but she
could not put a finger on it. Then, her cell phone rang.
Nicole looked at her phone and it was an international call and encrypted. She immediately thought that
it could be Samuel or Tim.
They had arrived so soon?
Nicole swiftly answered the call and the caller was Jacob, “Madam, save me, save me…” His voice
was intermittent and then the call was cut off. Nicole tried to return the call but she could not get
through. Why did Jacob call her?
Nicole started to frown.
Before Jacob left, he had a nasty quarrel with Nicole because of the child. Jacob should be
embarrassed to contact Nicole but now that he was in trouble, he should call Samuel or someone
above her. Why did he call her?
Nicole stood up and left.
Now that Samuel was not around and Zayn was busy with his wedding and banquet, he could only look
for Davon.
Davon was surprised to see Nicole. They went to somewhere private before asking, “What’s the
matter? What happened?”
“I just received a call from Jacob begging for help.”
Davon’s eyes narrowed and asked, “Are you sure the caller was Jacob?”
“I won’t mistake his voice,” Nicole said.
Davon pondered deeply on hearing this.
“Davon, if it’s really Jacob, why didn’t he call Samuel?” Nicole asked.
“Perhaps he couldn’t contact Samuel and Tim,” Davon said. This was truly a possibility as both of them
were in a helicopter and the signal would be interrupted. If Jacob was truly in danger, he could only try
to call someone other than Samuel and Tim.
Davon started to frown. What should they do now?
“Did he say where they were?” Davon asked.
“No.” Nicole frowned and continued, “He kept saying ‘save me’, and then the call ended. I tried to call
back but to no avail. Do you think that it’s a trap?”
“What do you mean?” Davon looked curiously at Nicole.
Nicole said softly, “Laurence just received a call from Cara. Cara asked to meet him at eleven o’clock
tomorrow morning at the Rose café. I agreed to go with him. Soon after I received a call from Jacob.”
“Do you suspect Cara had something to do with Jacob’s disappearance?” Davon asked.
Nicole replied, “I’m not sure but it’s too much of a coincidence. Furthermore, I shouldn’t be the first
person Jacob tried to seek help from. Perhaps you are right that he could only seek help from someone
he could contact. However, if you are in such a situation and when the call went through, would you be
begging for help or try to tell me your location?”
“Location!” Davon was a soldier and so was Jacob. Their training and experience would teach them to NôvelDrama.Org exclusive content.
reveal their location as soon as they managed to contact someone so that they could be rescued.
So perhaps the person who called Nicole was not Jacob. Davon pondered deeply again for a moment
and then asked, “Who could it be if it was not Jacob? You said that it was Jacob’s voice.”
“Yes, the voice was but not the caller. Perhaps Jacob was captured and his cries for help were
recorded. With today’s technology, I could not tell whether it was recorded. If it was indeed recorded,
then Jacob was in danger and whoever is behind this must have something to do with Cara.”
Nicole did not want to think of Cara in that manner, but the facts were lining up against her.
Davon frowned and asked, “What do you intend to do?”
“Inform the people from the army. Let them contact Samuel to rescue Jacob. I’ll pretend that I’m
organizing an effort to rescue Jacob to bait them out of hiding.”
Davon understood immediately what Nicole meant and said, “You intend to use yourself as the bait and
let the mastermind believe you had left. I’ll then observe and follow Laurence and see if the person
following him was Cara. If it was, then I’ll capture her. Right?”
“Yes, so I’ll have to trouble you.” Nicole’s eyes sparkled at the plan.
Davon knew and said, “You, like Samuel, are beginning to learn how to plot. You must be careful.”
“No worries, I have people from Night Elf helping me in the shadows,” Nicole said to Davon’s
displeasure.
“Don’t put too much faith in the Night Elf,” Davon warned.
“What do you mean?” Nicole asked doubtfully and became unsettled. Was Night Elf untrustworthy?
Davon said on seeing Nicole’s reaction, “Don’t forget that Cara had spent some time with Night Elf.
Now, who knows what happened to Cara but she had repeatedly gone after Laurence. Could there be
someone in Night Elf that cultivated her or a spy inside the team?”
Nicole understood immediately Davon’s concerns.
