Chapter 639
The following day, Chloe made her way to the Moncada household. Linda and Lucas's newborn had spent two weeks in the NICU and had just been brought home the previous day. Emotions were running high for Tara. Linda had always been a challenge, but Tara never expected her to pass away, leaving a child behind. The thought of a baby starting life without a mother was truly heartbreaking.
Lucas seemed to be taking it particularly hard. He had shut himself away in his room, refusing even to come out for meals, and had started drinking heavily, almost like a man who'd lost his way. Sensing Tara's need to let it all out, Chloe listened as she vented, "I don't know where I went wrong with Luca. It's been days, and he's still sulking around, sleeping all day, and drowning in alcohol. He's living like a ghost of himself."
Trying to offer some comfort, Chloe suggested, "Maybe he just needs a bit more time to wrap his head around everything."Content © NôvelDrama.Org.
Lucas had once confided in Chloe that Linda had tricked him, drugged him, and used him. He had even expressed a strong desire to be free of her. Yet, since her death, he was inconsolable. The true nature of his feelings for Linda was probably something only Lucas himself understood.
Tara sighed, expressing her frustration, "I know he's hurting, but he's a man and now a father. He needs to step up. What really gets to me is that he hasn't even looked at the baby since we brought him home."
Chloe was taken aback by this. Lucas hadn't visited the baby in the hospital, and now at home, he continued to avoid him. Perhaps seeing the baby reminded him too much of Linda.
Deciding to check on the nursery, Chloe found two nannies the Moncada family had hired to care for the baby. When she entered, the baby had just been fed and was sleeping peacefully. As Chloe and Tara approached the crib, they noticed the baby had filled out a bit and looked fairer, though still tiny and delicate.
Tara couldn't help but smile, "This little angel is such a gem, eats and sleeps without a fuss. Truly a little blessing."
Despite her initial dislike for Linda, Tara found herself smitten with the baby. Her frequent hospital visits
had turned into doting care at home, often taking over from the nannies.
Chloe couldn't resist gently touching the baby's cheek, noting how irresistibly cute those little chubby cheeks were.
"Have you decided on a name yet?" Chloe asked.
Tara shook her head, “We're leaving that up to Luca. He's got to step up at some point. Maybe you can knock some sense into him. He doesn't seem to listen to us, but maybe he'll hear you out."
Chloe stayed quiet, her gaze fixed on the serene face in the crib. The baby had outgrown the wrinkly newborn phase and, despite being small, was quite charming. The baby's skin was
as porcelain white as if baki
milk.

"He doesn't look much like Linda, but I see a lot of Lucas in him," Chloe observed, noticing the high nose bridge that hinted at Lucas's features even in such a young child.
