Chapter 254 I Was Framed
Chapter 254 I Was Framed
If Maranda said the video has gone viral then Zed of course knew about it too.
'That is why he is looking at me differently now.' The mystery had been solved, and Jean finally
understood the real meaning behind his cold look.
'I only have myself to blame for being so stupid. I am a fool to think the problem was related to his
company. It never occurred to me that it could be something related to me.'
Jean padded her head with her palms frustrated and quickened her pace to the study.
From outside the study, she noticed the light coming out from the seam under the door.
Jean raised her hand to the door and pushed it open slowly.
The second the door was opened, Jean caught the sight of Zed sitting on the leather swirling chair with
eyes fixated on the computer.
As she expected, he was watching the video.
Jean gave a wry smile and walked towards him.
What was more astonishing to her was Zed pretended like he couldn't feel her presence. His eyes
under the furrowed brows stared at the screen without leaving it even for a second.
"Zed, I can explain…" Jean stammered trying to get his attention.
"Explain? How?" Zed sneered without turning to look at her, "I don't have problem with you going to
Maranda's date. And I always let you live a life of comfort. I tell myself that I should trust you. I tell
myself that you love me and would never do anything stupid. I have to believe you unconditionally
because you are my wife. However, what does this video mean? You tell me."
After saying that, he turned the screen to Jean so that she could see in her own eyes the video.
Under the dim light, Jean noticed herself in an exaggerated thick makeup, with her arm around
Maranda's shoulder, binging on wine together with Maranda.
Her conversation with Ron was shown vividly and had been edited purposely to make it sound flirty.
The scene could be interpreted as sexy or disgusting depending on the person who watched it.
Watching this, Jean felt urged to throw up.
To make things worse for her, the other three faces were obscured with mosaic, while her own brazen
face was clearly kept in the spotlight.
"Zed, this video has been tampered. I have the complete video here. You can see here…"
Jean's face turned colorless and she slid her mobile phone with trembling hands. She typed her
password several times before she could unlock the screen.
However, when she found the video and clicked on it, it said that the file had expired and couldn't be
opened anymore.
Jean was stupefied instantly. She stayed dumbfounded and her brain went blank.
'What was going on?
Why couldn't the video be played?
Eva, you cheated me again.'
Jean clenched her teeth and dialed Eva's phone number.
The phone rang many times but nobody answered. When she called a second time, the beep sound
showed that she had already turned off the phone.
Jean turned pale because of anger. Her eyes were almost bursting with fire.
When she turned to Zed, her eyes met his sarcastic stare. Jean would rather die than be in this
situation.
Now Zed would never believe her anymore!
Thinking of that, her eyes turned red.
"What else you have to say?" Zed watched Jean's series of reaction like watching a clown's
performance. His heart sank down thinking this was the woman he loved.
He really wanted to believe her, but what he wished was there would be a proof to show she was not
guilty.
However…
She kept telling him that she had the complete video, and what he saw was the tampered and edited
version of it.
"Where was the real video then?" he asked angrily.
While explaining this, it slipped from her mouth that Eva helped her cover it up.
Zed found it hard to believe Eva would have helped Jean with anything.
'Oh, Jean!
Why don't you just admit your mistake?
Instead of admitting, you come up with a bunch of lies.
You deny the truth! You cover it up!
Now when things are falling apart, you still try to act all innocent.' He was so disappointed in her right
now.
"Zed, I am being framed!" Jean knew it was useless to say anything right now. However, she hoped in
vain that Zed would believe her, as he used to, unconditionally.
"I really wish I could believe you, but I believe my own eyes." Zed's face darkened. His tone clearly said
he didn't want to see her right now.
'Why can't you stop this charade and just apologize. Do you still want to talk your way out of it?
Jean, I don't think I can ever trust you.'
"So, whatever I say, you won't believe me, right?" Jean's face turned pale white like the wall behind her.
She looked at Zed expecting an answer.
"Jean, I believed you. But what happened in the end? Do you know how I felt l when I watched this
video? It was a slap on my face. I have to doubt if I was right or wrong to be so tolerant and
understanding to you."
Zed glared at her without mercy and full of anger. This time he felt no remorse watching her hurt face.
'What did I get from unconditionally trusting a person for the first time of my life? Such a painful
consequence!
The video seems to be mocking at me for being so stupid.'
"Am I right or wrong? You don't trust me any more, right?" Jean suddenly chuckled sadly. Her original
pale face had a desperate expression to it. "Zed, since you said that, I wouldn't wish willfully for your
understanding and forgiveness. I will never wish…"
Her voice became lighter and lighter until it almost turned into a whisper.
Zed looked at her devastated face with complicated expressions. His heart was nearly softened and
wanted to trust her again but he looked in a different direction to stop his heart from melting again.
However, when his eyes met her brilliantly smiling face with another man on the screen, he couldn't
help closing his eyes. When he opened his mouth again, there wasn't any warmth in his voice. "Jean,
considering the negative impact your action brought to the Qi family, I will live in the office for the time
being, until we can sort things out. I hope you can reflect on yourself during this break."
After he said those words, he picked up his coat and walked out without a moment of hesitation.
Jean turned her eyes wide open and looked at his back, unbelieving what she had heard. She cried
out, "Zed…" but he pretended like he couldn't hear her.
She continued, "Do you really have the heart to dump me like that?
Will you abandon me at this critical moment?"
Staring at his back, Zed's feet stopped for a short moment but he soon picked up his pace and sprinted
across the hall.
And thus Jean watched him leave. She felt her life being shattered into pieces.
It was a huge blow to her and she took several steps backward, and then collapsed onto the carpet.

How can a sunny sky suddenly turn into a stormy night?
Just because of a stupid fake video!'
Jean covered her face with her hands and sobbed quietly.
"What's wrong? Where did Zed stomp out to? Did you fight…"
Jesse rushed into the study to find Jean weeping there. She shut her mouth with surprise immediately.
"What happened? Did you guys fight?" Jesse feigned sadness while she said this.
Hearing Jesse's words, Jean felt like salt being added to her wound.
