Anita’s Voice: Behind the Headlines

United

Chapter 21: United

“Don’t cry baby girl!” Kate consoled Anita as she hugged her. She could understand how Anita was feeling at the moment.

After some minutes, Anita backed out from the hug as she looked at her friend from head to toe.

“Are you okay dear. Where on earth have you been? You have no idea how worried I have been because of you.” she said as she tried to force herself not to cry.Content from NôvelDr(a)ma.Org.

“It hasn’t been easy, but all is well. God is good.” Kate replied.

Anita then held Kate and took her to the dinner.

“Sit here. I will make you something real quick.” Anita said and walked into the kitchen.

In less than seven minutes, Anita appeared will some dishes.

“You should eat something before we retire to bed. You look skinny and I am not happy about it.” she said as she led Kate to eat.

Kate froze when she heard it.

Was her breakup showing all over her? Anyways, it was expected, considering how she had starved herself for a few days over someone who wasn’t worth it.

After eating, they went into the room and laid on their bed.

Anita wanted to ask Kate some questions, but she didn’t know if that was the right time. At the thought of that, she then decided to let them be.

As they laid on the bed, Kate looked at Anita’s expression and wondered what it was that was going through her head.

“What is wrong Anita? You know you can ask me questions if you want to.” Kate said to her like knowing what was on her mind.

Anita was stunned.

How did she know if she wanted to ask some questions?

“I searched for you Kate. I walked round my house and scattered so many files just to see if I could at least find your address. I tried your line several times, but you didn’t pick up. Where were you all those while and why did you choose to punish me so bad?” Anita spilled, almost breaking down in tears.

Kate was touched. She knew how hard it has hit Anita.

“I am so sorry Anita. I really understand what it is that you are going through. But did you ever think that not reaching out to you and making you worried was my fault?”

“No! Not at all. Why would you think like that? I really never thought of it that way. Instead, I was worried about your safety.”

“The last time I left your apartment to mine, I walked into Alex who was having sex with another woman inside my house, right on my couch.” Kate spilled.

Anita froze.

Sitting up from her bed, she looked into Kate’s eyes.

“You mean Alex? With another woman?”

“Yes Anita. So I chased them out and called it a quit with Alex. I have never really been against him having fun with other girls, but bringing a lady inside the house was something I knew I could not take. So, after chasing them out, I decided to take a break from remaining indoor to address my life. Which I did actually. I am grateful to God for the strength to come out of this and I am grateful to God for giving my a friend like you. You are one in a million Anita. You don’t need to worry about too much. I am an adult, and I have been living here for long. Even though I choose to walk all over this City, I will not get lost. I knew you were probably in search of me, but I didn’t think I was ready to face anybody, because I had almost lost myself.” Kate said to Anita.

Anita had been dumbfounded for a while.

How could Alex do that to her. She knew how much Kate valued him while they were still together.

“All will be well dear. I am happy that you are safe and sound.” she said and went closer to her for a hug. “I also think you need to let me know where you live to avoid me being worried some other time even though I pray not to encounter this again.”

“I will. Let’s go to bed.”

What greeted Anita’s eyes the next morning was Andre. She heard a knock that morning and decided to go open the door.

“What are you doing here by this time of the day. It’s still so early and I am still on the bed.” she said to him, not letting him in.

“I am sorry I just came to check up on you. You look bright this morning. Seems like everything is settled in your end.”

“Yes, ummm pardon my manner. Please come in.” she said when she realized she was preventing him from coming into her house.

Andre smiled.

He then went in and sat down on her simple white couch as he looked around her apartment.

“Who is there Anita?” Kate asked, cleaning her face as she made her way into the living room.

When she saw who it was in the sitting room, she froze.

This man!

She had seen him somewhere in a couple of times. She thought as she tried to figure out where and when.

Oh!

She got it!

She knew who it was. Sass Media House

She had met him more than once at the place where Anita was working in.

“Hi!” she said and walked closer to him.

Andre didn’t expect anyone. When he lifted his head, he was surprised.

He was here the other day, but didn’t see Kate. Where has she been all these while?

“Hello!” he replied her and started watching his phone.

“Seems like my girlfriend now likes to see you. From my memories, I think she hated to see you around.”

“She still hates me. But soon, she will like me and accepts me fully.”

Anita froze.

She still hates me?

What did he mean?

Clearing her throat, “ummm I think I need to take my goddamn lips out of this conversation.” Kate said and ran inside to freshen up.
