Chapter 418 A Call From Admas
Back when Candy and Wesley were still together, awkward things like that happened, too.
At the thought of it, Chloe shuddered.
"Chloe, what did Candy say? Has she returned home?"
Jessica and Quinn were concerned about Candy as the rain poured down heavily.Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.
"Yes, she's back. No need to worry," Chloe replied.
Turning around, Chloe grumbled secretly, "Chloe is with Wesley again!"
Meanwhile, Michael was furious after Chloe slapped him in public at the poetry gathering.
As he moved to leave, a girl intercepted him.
She offered a tissue. "Your mouth is bleeding."
As a neat freak, Michael refrained from accepting the tissue. He instead wiped the blood off his mouth with his fingertips.
This simple act caused the girl to gaze at him obsessively.
Determined not to let him slip away, she pursued and blocked his path.
"It seems your girlfriend just dumped you. Does that mean you're single now? How about me? I'm pretty, kind-hearted, and young. How about giving me your phone numbers?" Michael frowned and regarded her as mentally unwell. He continued walking without a word.
The girl, following his steps, turned back. Her hands cupped around her mouth. "He's so handsome!"
She stomped her foot, regretting not capturing his face on her phone.
Upon returning to his car, Michael got a call from his granpa.
Right after he answered it, he heard Admas yelling, "Where are you?"
Leaning back wearily on the seat, Michael replied, "Grandpa, I'm at the company."
"You're lying. I called your employees ages ago, and they said you left two hours ago. Where have you been?"
Michael was caught off guard, not expecting Admas to check his routine like that.
"Grandpa, what do you need?"
Admas snorted, "I just want you to bring Chloe back for dinner tonight. The chef at home has prepared lasagna."
Michael struggled to express his predicament, wanting to explain he couldn't return tonight.
Unexpectedly, Admas continued, "If you don't come back today, forget about Shawn Heavy Industries."
Then he ended the call.
Michael lifted his head and rubbed his brow in resignation.
Tom was seated in the front and softly inquired, "Mr. Shawn, shall we head back to Shawn Manor now?"
The phone call was loud, and the car was quiet, so Tom had overheard what Admas said.
Michael remained silent and fell asleep, so Tom refrained from further questions and quietly adjusted the car's air conditioning.
Due to the sound of raindrops on the car window, Michael woke up.
His brief slumber left his head aching slightly. "Tom, what time is it?"
"It's six-eleven in the evening, Mr. Shawn."
Micheal had never expected that he would sleep for over an hour.
"Let's go to Shawn Manor."
Even if Admas would be furious upon learning of Michael's divorce from Chloe, Michael couldn't continue hiding the truth. This matter would come to light sooner or later.
In Shawn Manor, Admas waited for Michael alone, not inviting anyone else.
"Sir Shawn, should I reheat this dish?" Simeon asked.
"Reheat it for what? He shouldn't be eating it."
Admas thumped his cane on the ground sternly.
When Michael entered, he found Admas seated upright on the sofa. "Grandpa, sorry that I'm late. It's raining outside."
Admas watched Michael sit beside him. "Where's Chloe?"
"She's a bit busy today and can't come over for now."
Admas eyed Michael and extended his hand. "Give me the phone. I'll call her."
"Grandpa..."
Michael felt utterly helpless.
