Chapter 364 It Is Futile
It was no wonder these few have been able to hang out together for so many years.
"Take your time chatting. I'll sit over there for a while."
Chloe tactfully planned to leave. She usually wasn't around when Michael was catching up with them.
He never considered bringing her into his social circle, and it was useless no matter how hard she had tried before. Luckily, she no longer cared about it at all.
But before she could walk away, Michael stopped her. "You don't need to go. They didn't say we couldn't bring our wife."
Chloe pouted. Now, she was considered his family again.
Lucy was the first to speak.
"Michael, have you seen the head of the Opal Group yet? I have something to discuss with him."
She hadn't forgotten the incident with Monica being fired.
As long as Monica could continue working with the Opal Group, Bright Moon Entertainment might give her another chance.
That way, she wouldn't be sidelined, and besides, she could be very useful...
"Over there."
Michael nodded towards Wesley's direction.
Lucy looked in that direction, a hint of awe in her eyes.
She had assumed the head of the Opal Group would at least be a middle-aged man.
"Michael, I mentioned Monica's situation to you before. Do you remember?
"I know you're still upset with me, but Monica loves being a model, and you promised you'd help her!"
Michael was stern. "The Opal Group and Bright Moon International made the decision about Monica. I can introduce you, but the rest is up to you."
Lucy clenched and relaxed her fists, managing only a wry smile.
"Thank you, Michael!"
Richard and James stood together talking when Michael brought Lucy over, and their expressions differed.
"Mr. Jenkins, this is my partner, and she would like to discuss something about Monica."
Michael looked down slightly, and after finishing his words, he stepped back.
He wouldn't meddle in the matter further.
Richard glanced at Lucy. "Who is Monica?"
Lucy stiffened. "Mr. Jenkins, Monica was the model who previously endorsed Opal Group's jewelry, but she was delayed due to a last-minute issue, and so the shoot was canceled." Richard turned to look at Wesley after hearing this.
"Is that so?"
"Yes, I remember Monica."
Wesley remembered Monica.
After all, they had chosen her as a spokesperson because she had a suitable demeanor that matched foreign aesthetic standards.
Little did he know she lacked professionalism.
"Mr. Jenkins, there must be some misunderstandings. Perhaps someone influenced the situation, but Monica realized her faults and hoped you would give her another chance, Mr. Jenkins and Mr. Dale!" James hadn't planned to get involved.
The decision to end the contract with Monica wasn't mostly because of Chloe.
But hearing Lucy now...
"Who do you think said something that led to Monica being fired?"
Lucy was stunned. "I'm not sure, but if it weren't for someone meddling, Monica's endorsement wouldn't have ended like this..."
"I'll explain one last time. Changing the spokesperson was the director's decision. Monica was unpunctual, lacked professionalism, had diva behavior, and was without a shred of decency. Any of these reasons alone would justify firing her."
James laid it out clearly, painting Monica in a very negative light.Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.
"I agree with Mr. Dale's statement. Monica is not the type of model the Opal Group is looking for."
Wesley also echoed this.
Lucy's face turned as grim as if she had swallowed a fly.
Monica was her friend, and now, being denigrated like this felt like they were implying she was no better than Monica.
When Lucy saw the firm stance of the others, a hint of resignation flashed in her eyes.
"Mr. Jenkins, Mr. Dale, you both make a good point. It was Monica's fault this time. Sorry for bothering you!"
She had tried her best, but it was futile.
She didn't need to drag herself down for Monica's sake.
After all, it was Monica's own doing, and it had nothing to do with her.
Yet as she followed Owen to the garden, she still sighed as if distressed.
"Lucy, you did all you could."
Owen tried to comfort her.
"But Monica will definitely be heartbroken. She's my best friend..."
Owen patted her back. "Even among friends, there are things we can't help with. It's not your fault. You're just too kind-hearted, always thinking about others and not yourself." Lucy gave him a gentle smile. "Owen, you think too highly of me."
