Chapter 321
Camila felt a little breathless from Connor's tight hug, but she laughed as she protested.
"Connor, you're squeezing the life out of me!" she playfully scolded.
Connor immediately loosened his grip, concern etched on his face. "Did I hurt you?"
"Not at all, but I haven't finished making the fruit salad. You need some vitamins," Camila said, getting up and heading to the kitchen.
Connor watched her move, his eyes filled with a contented smile.
Before long, Camila returned from the kitchen, carrying a plate of mixed fruits.
"Have some fruit," she said softly, bringing a piece to Connor's mouth.
Connor opened his mouth and ate the fruit she fed him.
Sitting down on the couch, Camila ate some fruit too and then noted, "It's getting late, you should head home."
Connor, resting his head on her lap, coughed twice and feigned weakness. "But it's pouring rain outside. I can't possibly make it home now."
Camila laughed, "Your place is just a short walk away. How can you not make it?"
"What if I, a poor sick man, faint on the way?" he said, his voice growing weaker as if he might collapse at any moment.
Camila couldn't help but laugh. "That serious, huh? Maybe I should drive you to the emergency room."
"No need, a good night's rest will do," Connor said, cuddling closer to her.
"My place doesn't have a spare bedroom, there's no place for you to sleep," Camila gently pushed him.
Connor looked into Camila's eyes, his own twinkling mischievously, showing no signs of leaving. "I can sleep on the couch." Camila frowned slightly, looking at Connor's tall frame. "My couch is pretty small; it won't fit your long legs."
Connor quickly tucked his legs onto the couch. "It's enough."
Camila sighed, "You won't be comfortable like this."
"Or maybe, I could just sleep in the bed with you?" Connor suggested cheekily.
Camila's face turned a shade of red, and she glared at him. "Don't even think about it."
Seeing his stubborn look, she knew she couldn't persuade him to leave.
She walked into the bedroom and came back with a thick blanket, gently covering Connor with it.
"Try to get some rest," she whispered.
Connor watched her, a hint of triumph in his eyes as he softly grabbed the edge of her shirt. "Goodnight."
In the middle of the night, Camila woke up with a start, feeling uneasy.

Connor half-opened his eyes, seeing the anxious look on Camila's face, he tried to smile. "It's nothing."
"Stay put, I'm going to get the thermometer."
Camila quickly fetched the thermometer, and it read 102.2 degrees - definitely a fever.

After taking the medicine, Connor leaned back on the couch and closed his eyes to rest.
Seeing his exhausted appearance, Camila felt a pang of sympathy.
"You should sleep in the bed, I'll take the couch."
Connor held her hand, shook his head pitifully, "The couch isn't comfortable, you go back to your bed."
Camila's defenses slowly crumbled.
Seeing how weak Connor looked,
she gently nodded, "Alright, let's go back to the bedroom together, but you have to promise not to try anything funny."
Connor's spirits immediately lifted, and he quickly promised, "I swear!"
Realizing he sounded too energetic, he feigned weakness again.
"I'm sick, even if I wanted to, I couldn't."
