Chapter 81: Discovered
Chapter 81: Discovered
“She will be going home with us, Fred.” Amelia uttered and gave Susan a reassured nod
“What? Are you crazy? I can't let a stranger go with us to the house. You know why I can’t.” He responded in anger. “Susan, can you please look after Alice for a few minutes? I need to talk to this man.”
After giving the Walker to Susan, she walked up to Fred and exhaled softly as she started talking.
“You abducted me, didn't you? Not just me, but my child.
“Why are you saying this?” He answered almost immediately.
“And since this happened, after I chose to be with you, have I ever bugged you or tried to run away? We sleep on the same bed, I know where you keep the keys to the door, so if I wanted to run I would have.” She took a pause and waited for him to say something else, but he didn’t.
“If you can't trust me, I see no reason why you want to be with me and my daughter. Can't you just trust me the way I trust you? I left my daughter in your care, not the first time, but the second, because I know how much you love us and that is why I want to trust you. All I'm asking from you is that you trust me too! I know what I'm doing, Fred. This woman has lost her memories, according to her story, and I need to know how she survived that murder. I need to know if my dad is still alive too. Can you please just let her come with us?”
After she finished talking. Fred raised his head and looked over her shoulder at Susan, who was pretty busy playing and giggling with Alice. “Fine. She can come with us. But if she tries anything...”
“She wouldn't. I promise. I just need a long chat with her.
Fred heaved a sigh and bounced his head. “Fine. Let's go home now. Time isn’t on our side.”
Amelia divulged a hearty smile and also bounced her head. She hurried back to Susan and squatted in front of her.
“You're coming home with me, okay? Let's go.” She said to her in excitement.
Susan looked at Fred and then at Amelia before she agreed. “But I need to tell Tonia I won't be coming home early.” She uttered.
“Tonia? Who is Tonia?” Amelia inquired.
“The old woman I told you about. The one taking care of me.”
“Oh, you should let her know. It wouldn't be nice to make her worry so much.”
Susan pulled out her phone to make a phone call, and Amelia looked at Fred. She noticed he was uncomfortable with her making phone calls, but she ignored him.
“Hi, Tonia. I'll be coming home late today. I need to find out some important things. Don't stay up.”
She hung up afterwards and threw her phone in her bag. “What did she say?” Amelia asked.
“She didn't answer the phone on time, but I left a voicemail already. Let’s go.” She stood up, and Amelia pulled the Walker to herself. Fred took the lead as they all headed out of the restaurant. “We ended up eating nothing inside there.” Amelia uttered.
“I wasn't hungry, and it was quite obvious you weren't either.
“True.” Amelia replied with a smile.
Susan moved closer to Amelia and whispered in her ear: “if this man isnt your husband. Then who is your husband?”
Amelia exhaled and looked at her face. "My husband is pretty far from here. Remember I told you I was abducted. He is probably looking for me right now, and here I am, stuck with this psychopath.”
“You should do something about that soon. Your husband is probably so scared and devastated right now.” She added.
“I am aware, Susan. I wanted to gain his trust and make him love me more to the extent of letting his guard down before I do anything crazy. He has a gun, and his anger is quite a terror. I need to be careful.” She responded in a whisper.
‘lll help you.” Susan answered with a grin.
James and the others got to the exact location on Elena’s tracking map. They all alighted from the care and headed to the house that the red dot rested on.
There were few houses around, and they were pretty far from each other. The cops that went with them took the lead into the house. They kicked the door open, and went in to search the house
“Amelia!!” James shouted her name from where he stood and everyone looked at him.
“Did you have to do that?” Elena asked in a mumble.
“Of course. I need to know if she is truly here or if this is just a waste of time, or a distraction.”
Elena exhaled and shook her head in frustration. “Even after all these, you still think I’m behind this?”
“It's not an impossible task, is it? You just showW.up like that and announce t tat you've found her. We. all had private investigators working on thi s-Why was yours the firstto find fet and even provided you Pwith a mab. isn’t that too simple censidering the experts that are working on this case?!”
“Enough! Both of you! This isn’t the right time, okay? Let's focus!” Charles butted in after seeing things were beginning to grow hotter than he expected
James gulpedsaard and looked at the door of the house, waiting for the cops tacome out with sad => news. Ic called out her name already,
and she ¢ didn’t respond, this is a:

“We found some things we believe belong to the people we are looking for.” One of the cops announced from the door, and James was the first person to run down there.
“What? What did you find?” He asked with great eagemess
“Here is a female's bag. I believe you showed this to us when we started searching for her. Am I right?” The cop asked, and James nodded with tears in his eyes.
“Yes! This is hers.” He moved the bag to his nose and sniffed it very hard. He could smell her on it and this made more tears roll down his cheeks. “So they left already?” James asked.
Elena shot Penelope a deadly look, and she hurriedly shook her head. “I swear I didn’t tell him anything. Maybe he just stepped out with them. “You better not be lying to me or else, you'll end up in jail just like father.
Elena walked past her and headed to where the cops were.
“Does the atmosphere in the house show that they ran away or they just stepped out? You should be able to detect this right?”
"We realized that there's a high possibility that they would still return to the house’ We found some NN money, and almost everything they’ d need to-tun away in the room. They shoule-be coming back. They-had just Stocked the fridge with some groceries too. They probably just stepped out.” ite)
“Since this is the case, we shouldn't just leave. We should hang around and watch if they'd show up. I won't be leaving this place until I get a positive answer:” James affirmed.
“That's not a problem. We'd park the cars far away from here and hide in the bushes. Once they show up, we, the cops, will do what we want to do and go back home.”
“Great. I'll drive the car away from here then. I'll be back soon.”
“We'll do the same.”
James turned to leave and his eyes locked with Elena’s. He ignored her and walked down the porch to where they had parked the car. “Where are you going?” Helen asked.
“To move the car far away from here. We can’t let them suspect we're around.” He sat in the car as he spoke and ignited the engine. “We all have to hide.” Elena said to them.
Charles and Helen nodded and were about to move, when Helen noticed Penelope had been awkwardly silent all through. She wasn't as eager as she used to be.
“Penelope, are you alright? Why are you so quiet?” She asked worriedly.
Penelope forced on a feeble smile and shook her head. “I’m just pretty tired. I think I’m going to fall sick soon.
“Wow. Sorry about that. You should have stayed home then.”
“No, it’s fine. It's my daughter we are talking about here. Let's go and hide.” She responded, and Helen bounced her head. They all did as planned and scon everyone was as if no one was there in the very first place. It was empty and silent.
They got to the house shortly and they alighted from the taxi. This time, Amelia was carrying Alice in her arms, and Susan helped with the folded walker.
Fred was busy paying the driver off when Amelia felt a strange sensation. As the wind blew across her face, she perceived a familiar scent. It was faint but caught her attention so much.Property of Nô)(velDr(a)ma.Org.
She looked around the area, wondering where James’ body spray was coming from. Is this because I miss him so much?’ She thought and was about to look away when her eyes caught something behind one of the trees.
She looked closely and when she realized it was a person, she felt her heart sink to her belly. It wasn't just a person, it was James.
