The Almighty Lord Caspian

Chapter 781 Leaving after Failure

Chapter 781 Leaving after Failure

Jett was about to succeed when Joey and her subordinates suddenly joined the fray. Not only were all

personnel from the Inspector General's office armed, but they also represented the stance of Diatoran's

authorities.

Even if a conflict arose between the office and Life Force, resulting in Life Force being wiped out, Jerry

could not express his disapproval about that.

"Chief Sanders, we're here under the orders of Jerry Andrews, the trusted advisor of the King, to deal

with Caspian Lynch. He has plotted to start a rebellion.

"Don't stick your nose into a business that isn't yours!" Jett mentioned the name of his backer, intending

to shock Joey into giving in.

"Under the trusted advisor's orders? Do you have any proof? You don't look like you have any good

intentions, either. So tell me, who on Earth are you?" Joey asked coldly.

Almost everyone in Life Force had some form of criminal record, and that would surely be revealed if

the authorities investigated them. Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.

"Chief Sanders, Caspian just committed murder when so many people were watching. Why are you

hounding me instead of going after that murderer? Are you perhaps Caspian's accomplice?"

Joey turned to ask Caspian, "Did you just kill someone?"

"Yeah, I did it," Caspian replied nonchalantly.

Joey felt somewhat helpless. She had wanted to defuse the situation in Caspian's favor, but she could

only approach it impartially now that Caspian had admitted to committing a crime.

However, Caspian added, "All of them have interesting backgrounds, though. If you investigate them,

you'll discover their criminal records. The deaths of people like them aren't worthy of being lamented."

Jett was panicked upon hearing Caspian's words, as almost everyone in Skyarch Palace had blood on

their hands. This was why they could never hold up under an investigation.

Joey ordered, "Transport the dead body back to the office and investigate his identity. I'll make a

decision after everything is made clear."

Two employees working for the office came over. They were about to carry the body away when a

mentee from Life Force said, "This won't do. The dead must be respected, which means they must be

given a proper burial. You can't take the dead body away!"

"So? Do you dare stop us from doing our jobs?" Joey asked coldly.

Jett stepped out as well, adding, "Back where we come from, it's customary that we bury the dead as

soon as possible after their deaths. Please understand that."

He knew that this operation would end with nothing but failure, seeing as Joey had suddenly appeared.

He waved at his mentees, saying, "What are you still standing here for? Carry the body with us!

Caspian, we'll deal with what's between us later!"

He then left with his subordinates. Joey wanted to attack him, but Caspian stopped her from doing so.

Caspian whispered, "It's good that they're leaving. Don't piss off these men. If Jerry issues another

order, you'll have to comply obediently anyway."

Joey replied nonchalantly, "I'm in Southlake City, so why should I listen to him?"

Caspian advised, "Don't do anything dumb. Your position as chief of the Inspector General's office is

very important."

"I won't let it slip a second time. If I ever hear that you've killed innocent people, I'll arrest you myself."

Joey knew that Caspian was showing concern toward her through his words, and it made her blush.

After Jett and his men left, Macy came over hurriedly. She looked at Caspian worriedly, asking, "What

happened, Lord Caspian? It seemed like those people were all martial artists!"

Caspian said to her, "Why weren't you here just now? It's fortunate that Joey came on time. I would've

become an invalid otherwise."

"I-I went to arrest an enemy secret agent," Macy replied.

Caspian could already guess how that ended from Macy's expression. "You failed, didn't you?"

This surprised Caspian. Not only was the enemy leader exceptionally skilled in concealing himself, but

he had also succeeded in escaping from under Macy's and Laina's watchful eyes!

It seemed that this person was really good at what he did.

"He escaped despite our efforts, but he also got shot. I've already contacted pharmacies and hospitals

nearby. I told them to take note of any suspicious visitors," Macy said.

Macy failed to arrest the sniper, but she was certain that she could eventually do it as long as the

enemy was still within the borders of Diatoran.

Caspian nodded and said nothing more. If this man had the ability to escape, it meant that he was also

skilled in counter-surveillance. Arresting him would not be easy.

Macy felt guilty. "Who would've thought that he'd be hiding in the green belt?"

At this moment, Laina rushed over as well. She was also feeling discouraged after failing to arrest the

enemy's leader. Task Force Rose was known for their skills in secret assassinations and concealment,

so this incident had really taught her a lesson.

Caspian reassured them, "It's not all your fault. This man is detail-oriented, bold, and very skilled."

There were more important missions that required Macy's and Laina's prowess. He did not want them

to wallow in self-doubt. Macy and Laina had both fought countless battles and had strong mental

fortitude.

After this short intermission, the employees of Southlake Corporation got down to work. The massive

excavators and bulldozers were also put to work. Even Willow and Zoey joined in as well.

Half an hour later, Caspian came to Willow, whose face was caked with soil and dirt. She looked

nothing like the CEO of a company.

Caspian wiped a little of the soil from Willow's face with his finger before whispering, "Let's go home,

honey. I have something else to do tonight."

Right after saying that, Caspian heard the sounds of leather boots stepping on the ground. He did not

even need to think about who that was. It was Sylvia, of course.

Sylvia went over to Caspian and asked in concern, "Are you still doing okay, Lord Caspian? Where's

the enemy?"

Sylvia was stunned as she did not expect Macy to attribute so much to her tardiness.

She said, feeling wronged, "I couldn't help it, Lord Caspian. I wasn't in a position to leave. Also, didn't

you say that you'd meet me tonight?"

Caspian was already very happy that Sylvia could come, actually. He was without an official position

now. Jerry would surely punish Sylvia and the others if he learned that they had come to meet him.

Sylvia was suddenly angered. "Macy, why are you coming after me so relentlessly and angrily? I didn't

do anything to offend you, did I?"

She had always been close to Macy. Something was obviously not right with this lady today!
